A New Year on A Mom in Red High Heels

Happy New Year! I hope your day is full of love, joy and beauty! I hope your 2009 is that way too! 
In 2009, my goal is to get you more involved on A Mom in Red High Heels! Here are a few ways that you can help make this YOUR site:
- Reader Reviews: I’d love to hear from you! What is your favorite product or least favorite product? Why? Did you buy a $20 mascara that doesn’t compare to the $3 mascara you usually use? Tell us about it! Did you hit a great sale and find the best boots ever? Send me the link!
- Panel of Moms: I’ve asked a handful of moms to be on a panel to review beauty products. Their reviews will be posted to give you a wider range of opinions of the latest skin care and beauty products. If you are interested in being on the panel, email me to apply.
- Comments: Let’s chat it up! We moms love to talk, right? Let’s get the conversation going. Whenever I post about something you have an opinion on, leave a comment! Share your knowledge, the websites you shop, your favorite brand…whatever. The more you interact on this site, the more empowered every other reader is!
- Tell Me: what do you want to see more of on A Mom in Red High Heels? Right now there is a mix of fashion, beauty, celebrity style and lots of sales alerts. Do you like it? Do you want more of the same? What would you like to see more of? Would you like content to be just beauty and style, narrowing the long list on the menu at left? Are there changes in format that you’d like to see to make the site easier to navigate? Some ideas I’ve heard include: more ethnic women, more hair help, more product reviews, change to a magazine format…what do you think? Take the poll below!
- Hair Makeovers: I’m really excited to share this with you! Erin from My Hairstyling Tools has offered to help you get a new look! She will consider your current look and what your needs and desires are and recommend a style or two that you should try! She helped me with my last color change and she’s going to be there for you! If you are wanting a new hair look, email me a picture and some detail about your hair and how much of a change you are looking for. More details soon…
- Real Moms. Real Beauty: If you are a mom in business, take part in the Real Moms. Real Beauty interview. It allows you to plug your business and share your fashion and beauty tips with other moms.
- Link Away: Have a website? Lets talk about how we can swap links, information, interviews, etc! I’d like to get creative rather than the standard link exchange…
- Share with Friends: I consider it the greatest honor when you pass on A Mom in Red High Heels to another. If you like what you read here, won’t you share? Also, pass on the contests that are hosted here nearly weekly! There are some great prizes lined up for 2009!
- Beauty of a Heart: One of My favorite features on this site, which is often neglected, is Beauty of a Heart. It features companies, moms, people who have a beautiful heart. I’d like to feature more stories on people like this because no matter how pretty you are on the outside, you are not pretty if you have an ugly heart. If you have a story to share about someone with a beautiful heart (perhaps yourself…you don’t need to be humble here!), please send it to me so I can share it with everyone.
A few ideas I have for 2009 include a “Back to Basics” focus on beauty. I’ll be posting home recipes for facials, tips for making this your healthiest year yet and how to use what you have in your closet to create new looks. I’m also looking forward to expanding the skin care product reviews to include men and children products!
Together, we can make A Mom in Red High Heels a truly empowering website for moms and others who visit. I can’t do it without you! Happy 2009. xoxo!

First, I have to say I LOVE that 2009 graphic with the two red heels on either side. Did you create that? It’s gorgeous.
Second, I voted in your poll above…but my “top three” are product reviews, fashion tips and trends, and contests. I’m not a huge fan of “sales alerts” unless they’re truly outstanding (50-80% off, free shipping, etc.).
Third, keep up the great work in 2009. I’m subscribed to your feed and will continue to “pop in” regularly.
