Since the reveal of Victoria Beckham’s new haircut at Marc Jacobs show at New York Fashion Week, talk of her sassy new cut is everywhere! Many of you have voted that you are going to duplicate Mrs. Beckham’s cut so I wanted to give you a few styling tips to help your hair look it’s best.
Worn sleek, spiked or messy, the pixie is a versatile choice in hairstyles. Product will be your best friend as you experiment with different looks.
- Towel dry and use your fingers to comb your locks into shape.
- Use hair wax to add definition to your strands, making them piecey and full of texture.
- Get a sexy, sleek look (think Jamie Lee Curtis in True Lies) by adding smoothing creme and combing it straight back or pulling it forward to frame your face.
- Let your hair be a controlled mess, it’s sexier and more youthful! Hair too perfectly placed will make you appear older than you are!
- At all costs, avoid “poofy hair” as you will look like you are wearing a helmet- not an appropriate fashion accessory! This style is not meant for full volume!
- Using products in your hair daily will cause product build-up so be sure to shampoo at least every other day.
- Wear accessories! A headband or small clip would be an easy way to change up your look.
Before taking the plunge to get the latest trendy look be sure you do some soul searching. Ask yourself what you’ll do if you don’t like it (it will take a long time to grow out). Do you have the confidence to pull it off? Do you have the budget to keep it trimmed every month (short styles need trimming every 4-6 weeks to keep the shape fresh)? Consider these tips from a woman who got the pixie cut last year (she is so ahead of the trends!). She has some great tips on Getting the Perfect Pixie!
Good luck with your cut. I’d love to see your new pixie cut! Send me some pictures and I’ll post it!

I love the pixie look on her! Unfortunately I had a pixie while pregnant and so now I’m finally seeing length to my hair. I don’t dare cut it now! Pixies are always looks that you think are gonna be awesome on you and then once you get them you realize you should have left it to the celebs.
Agreed. Far too trendy for me!
i completely dissagree! pixie cuts can be amazing as long as you have the right face shape for it and get it cut by someone who knows what they’re doing! i get mine every spring and then grow it out for the rest of the year. with regular trims to keep it styled i end up with several different styles throughout the year which is fun but the pixie is actually my favorite!
