I told you I was going to New York soon for a blogging event featuring the HP Vivienne Tam Notebook. Did I mention I was going during Fashion Week? Exciting right? I agree! But, also a lot of pressure to pack well and look great! Not only will I be meeting a bunch of new bloggers, the HP team, Vivienne Tam’s team and possibly Ms. Tam herself, I’m in New York during the peak fashion season! Models, designers, celebrities and press will be in from all over the world! I have to look my best to represent myself and A Mom in Red High Heels!
I know I’m not the only one concerned about packing right as I’ve had discussions with several others who will be in New York during the week. We all struggle with what to wear! For those of us coming from warmer climates- Florida, California and Texas- we have special challenges as we don’t really own “winter clothes”.
We will be spending two evenings at the Vivienne Tam boutique for events. The first night is the fashion show, the second a cocktail party. While I have my outfits pretty much finalized, I’m struggling with the footwear.
While I like to wear red high heels when representing my blog, all but one pair are warm weather styles! They are not coming in my suitcase this time! I’ll wear my red pumps to a morning function but the evening footwear has me stumped. This is where I hope you can help!
I’m packing my black high boots for one of the outfits. The other outfit I was hoping to match with a new pair of fun, hot shoes. I actually purchased these red boots thinking they would look really sexy and fashion-forward with a short, simple black dress. I was wrong. Leg warmers came to mind when I tried them on…
I briefly thought about these boots:

I love the color and style but they are more than I’d like to spend on boots I know I won’t wear very often.
So now I’m thinking more about a shootie style to go with a navy and black dress that falls at my knee. These shooties are fun, trendy and a little more adventurous than the black pumps in my closet! However, I can’t decide if I should wear black tights or if I should go with another style of shootie that has a closed-toe. I’m just not convinced an open-toe should be worn with tights. What do you think?

If you live in a cold climate and consider yourself a fashionable mama, I’d love to hear your comments and recommendations. I’ve found a TON of super cute shoes I’d like to buy but they are either not appropriate for the event or expose too much foot. Trust me, if my feet are cold, I’m cold…
Please vote and leave me a comment to help me get through this fashion emergency. I have 5 days left to shop!

If it is snowing or raining as it often is sloppy weather this time of year your feet will freeze. Love the shoe but would go with closed toe this time of year.
