Yesterday I gave you a glimpse into the world of lebec cosmetics. Today, I give you a glimpse at the woman lebec.
Over the past weekend I was thrilled to work with professional makeup artist, lebec. She shared with me many tips and techniques for applying makeup to look it’s best on me. It was not a “cookie-cutter” makeup lesson that requires you to apply cosmetics the same as your neighbor who looks completely different. I was astonished to learn how many things I had been doing incorrectly for so many years that didn’t work to enhance my own beauty. I’ll share many of these tips with you over the week but today I want to discuss the woman behind the name lebec.
To get right down to it, lebec was truly genuine and respectful from the very first email I received from her. I never felt intimidated or nervous about what this former New York Professional Makeup Artist might create with my face! She is a professional with many photo shoots under her belt, afterall. Would I have bright purple eyeshadow? Not at all!
First and foremost, lebec is MOM and WIFE. I had the pleasure of meeting her family, of whom are her priority. lebec has structured her business, lebec cosmetics, to work around her family time. She absolutely adores her “Mini-Me” 10 year-old-daughter. She isn’t interested in “instant fame and fortune”- it simply isn’t the priority right now. Her desire is to be with her family, educate up and coming makeup artists and “real” women wanting to learn how to look their best! She is all about empowering the consumer! Isn’t that a great testimony to success?
When I walked into the studio for my consultation, lebec greeted me with a huge hug. I instantly felt welcomed. lebec explained to me that her primary goal with what she does is to listen to each client and really help the client to learn what is going to work for her. lebec asked me a TON of questions about my skincare, lifestyle, current makeup habits and ethnicity (it’s important to know with regards to coloring). lebec was never judgmental (not even when she wiped my messy foundation clean!) nor made me feel inferior. I felt as if she was learning from me (which she was…about me!). Now, isn’t that what SERVICE is all about? I think so!
lebec left NYC as a head artist for Shu Uemura in Soho. She reflects the sincere respect often associated with the Japanese culture. I’m not sure how much of that she was born with and how much of it she absorbed from working with Mr. Uemura but she has certainly embraced that quality and it will take her far in life!
Admittedly, lebec spent WAY too much time on me but I am very grateful to her for her time and expertise!
After a good hour of discussion, she walked me through my own makeup bag, testing colors, telling what worked and what didn’t. She was very professional and never rushed. She taught me how to use the makeup in my bag and how to get the colors to work for me in new ways. She was so sweet to support my using what I already own as she hated to see the money wasted (I own several products that just weren’t working for me!).
I was super impressed that lebec never pushed her own product like you would suspect a makeup artist with her own line to do. Where my makeup bag fell short, we filled in with her product. I can’t wait to go back and have her do a lesson with me using her own product line because it is pretty awesome.
It should be noted that lebec doesn’t believe in “makeovers”. She believes in enhancing every woman’s own beauty, not making her look like someone she’s not.
It was a blessing to meet lebec and I look forward to a continued friendship with her, as well as someone to turn to for her expertise! Thanks lebec! xoxo!
Tomorrow I will give you the low- down on the makeup lesson/consultation. See you then!
