Ahh, Target gets it! Target announces that they will be adding an interactive beauty section in stores! Joshua Thomas, a member of Target Corp.’s communications department says, “When you buy [beauty] there is that emotional investment. We understand and appreciate that and the [new beauty displays] will reflect that.” He continued, “We want to see guests walk in the section of the store and interact with the beauty brands. It gives them a chance to touch, smell and feel the brands.” Oh, I’m so excited! I was just telling you how more brands should be like L’Oreal and offer hands on testing of the products like they do at their flagship stores. Sephora has it figured out that we want to touch, sample and experiment with cosmetics before investing. Ulta, unfortunately, missed the memo that hinted at that. Target got it. Looks like I’ll be buying drugstore brands once again!
Target is also introducing their Design for All concept in the beauty aisle as well! Starting in August, three beauty lines are scheduled to enter about 1,400 Target stores. Expect to see makeup artists Jemma Kidd, Napoleon Perdis and Petra Strand bring out more affordable variations of their existing prestige lines for the Target beauty shopper. I look forward to trying the new brands!
What do you think? Is Target “on target” with their efforts to make beauty shopping more interactive?

AH Target! I love them so. It does figure that they’d be bringing in all this awesomeness just as I decide to sell Arbonne and therefore have my own stuff to use. But still! Target just rocks!
I like the idea but I am worried how much they will be monitoring the area. Testers can get thrashed fast. Our Target is in the mall and I just know that the testers will get their good share of abuse.
Still this does excite me because d/s brands are always such a gamble.
