Smashbox is known for being on the cutting edge of beauty and their line of Foundation Primers follows suit. Smashbox Photo Finish Light Foundation Primer has become the gold standard in foundation primers and was the winner of Allure Magazine’s “Best of Beauty” award in 2008 and The Best of Sephora 2008. This foundation primer is a formula packed full of vitamins and antioxidants that helps create the perfect canvas for foundation and color application. It is geared toward all skin tones and it helps fill in and reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores for visibly softer-looking skin. Easy to use, simply apply a small amount to clean or moisturized skin and follow with your favorite foundation.
What caught my attention right away was the texture of the primer. Upon application, it changed from a light moisturizer-feel to almost an airy-powdery finish. Having combination skin, I appreciated it not feeling like an additional layer. It absorbed quickly, without the extra weight. I didn’t notice a reduction of fine lines or pores, but perhaps this might have been the case after longer use.
One side note…as I was researching this product in preparation for this review, I stumbled upon several complaints regarding the packaging. The primer comes in a glass bottle with pump and often the product was unable to be pumped out of the bottle when two-thirds had been used. Alas, the users’ solution was pry the top open and used a cotton swab to get the primer out. Smashbox must have listened as they now offer a .5 oz Foundation Primer ‘To Go’ that is in a tube.
