What’s the big fuss over Frye boots?

The Frye Company is the longest-running shoe company in the United States, designing and manufacturing boots since 1863. That’s almost 150 years!

Back in the day, (way back in the day – think Civil War times), Frye boots were worn by Union and Confederate soldiers. The tradition has continued through the Spanish-American War all the way up to WWII. Although you probably won’t see any soldiers wearing them today, you’ll definitely see lots of celebrities rocking their Fryes. Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston are both fans (same taste in boots and men?).

Over the years, the company has gained a very dedicated following for its quality and versatility. With over nine different styles, Frye satisfies boot desires for everybody. Some styles, like the Harness or Engineer Boot (originally created to protect bikers from the heat of exhaust pipes), are just as likely to be seen coupled with a motorcycle as a long bohemian skirt. Throughout the years, they have been paired with everything from rocker jeans to sexy minis.

What would you do with them? Which style is your favorite? Because if you win this giveaway, you’ll get a $100 Shopbop.com instant gift card so you can start shopping right away for your new wardrobe staple. Let’s face it, what’s a better addition to your fall and winter wardrobe than a pair of designer boots? Just tell us which pair of Frye boots is your favorite and how you’d wear them. The most inspirational, insightful comment wins!

OMG, I LOVE the frankie buckle boots-perfect combo of fashion for me. I would wear them with everything!!!! They have that certain something I look for in boots, they send a message that says although I drive a station wagon emblazoned with all my sons sports teams and schools-I am no “football mom”. I am a fashionista and you could just as easily see me on the back of a Harley, enjoying the ride. Ahhhh.

Frye Harness 12R has been my obession for quite some time. (is it ok to be obsessed with shoes? Darn tootin!) I would wear these with dresses, skirts, jeans, tights, tall socks… And to Bed!!!!!

The Carmen Harness Tall Boot would be the epitomy of channeling my inner girlie gunfighter. First, it appeals to my love of grommets and rings (I always gravitate to those first), but then there is the vintage leather aspect that gives a feeling that you’ve been around the block a few times (it’s a wisdom thing). I would wear them with my new favorite lucky jeans and a sexy,off-the-shoulder sweater to get the hubby’s blood pumping. And because they are Frye boots, they would likely live longer than me, so I could will them to my daughter who wears the same size. Oh, who am I kidding? She would steal them from me long before that! I’d have to guard them with my Colt .45. =)

I absoutely adore all things Frye as not only are their boots (and shoes and sandals and flats…) beautiful and functional but they are also comfortable, which is not always the case with some brands. I would love to own every single pair of Frye boots at Shopbop.com, but I especially loooooooooove the Matilda Button Tall Boots with their beautiful soft warm red color (which is my favorite color) that would be a fantastic addition to ANY outfit. I’m also digging the Frankie Buckle Boots with their fun studs at the bottom as studs are such a big trend this season. But, can I please please please have them all?

I love the Samantha Patch boots! They have just enough of a heel that I won’t look dumpy (I am only 5′2″) and have a style that I think would go with EVERYTHING.

It’s all about the Matilda Button Tall boots for me — they have a slightly Victorian, granny boot feel, but that’s matched by this Western can-can vibe. The end result is a really stylish boot that’s versatile and fun. The red boots are amazing, but I think I could really strut in the blue Matilda boots — you can wear them over skinny jeans, pair them with a full skirt with a bit of tulle (for that Can can look), match with a simple pencil skirt for a more conservative look… The possibilities are endless!

From Monday to Thursday I can wear Betty Inside zip boot for work,on Friday I can wear the Matilda button tall boot for after work parties and Saturday and Sunday for daytime shopping around the malls and running around, I can see myself in the Sandra Riding boots

    10. Carol Says:
      November 4th, 2009 at 10:10 am

I have never owned a pair of good boots. The only boots I have ever owned were rubber yellow boots when I was in grammar school. Now, as an adult, I still don’t own good boots because I just haven’t been able to spend the money for them while raising our family.

      These boots: Frye
      Simone Cuffed Boots
      $328.00

are an absolute dream. The cuff is so sleek and stylish. I would pair these with a pair of my nice jeans, a pretty fuschia top, and a medium-weight fringed scarf. I could see myself going out on a Date Night with my husband, and feeling so good about myself because I was wearing such incredible boots. Since it’s winter, I’d wear a nice good in earth tones to go with the boots.

      Fabulous giveaway. What a delight.

Every season I think I’m going to buy a nice pair of boots, and then something else comes up that requires my money to spent more wisely! But if I could buy any Frye boot I think I would go for the Matilda Button Tall Boots. They remind me of something belonging to a Jane Austin novel. The buttons up the side are reminiscent of the buttons on the old fashioned dresses. The color of the boots suggest passion beneath the buttoned up conservatism.

      November 4th, 2009 at 3:07 pm

I love getting new shoes or boots to perk up an older outfit. Invariably when I do this, someone thinks I have something new on. The Frye
Matilda Cuff Booties would be perfect to wear with most everything, jeans, skirts, dresses, or even my jammies to enjoy the supple feel of the leather. The blue of the leather is a plus – unusual and great for the upcoming winter blahs.

    31. Sylvia Says:
      November 4th, 2009 at 3:18 pm

I’d love to pick up a pair of the Shirley Riding Boots. I see it as a casual Friday at work outfit that works into an evening of fun with the girls. I’d wear the boots with dark navy skinny jeans, this bright blue flannel men’s shirt that I tailored to my size with a soft pink lace trim camisole peaking out from underneath. At night I’d ditch the flannel shirt and toughen up the camisole with my biker jacket.

    32. Amanda Says:
      November 4th, 2009 at 3:21 pm

The Matilda Button Tall Boots are breathtaking!!! They can be casual or show-stoppingly fancy depending on what you pair them with. I’ve never seen anything like them. Any pair of boots that can stand out like that are a must for any girl’s closet!! They’re so unique and that color blue would go gorgeous with denim, which we all know will never go out of fashion! I’d pair them with either skinny jeans tucked into them to show that gorgeous button detailing or a pretty skirt. They are to die for!!!!

Hands down the Veronica Slouch Boot. Why? Well, growing up in the 80s and 90s, I must still have that combat boot/babydoll dress aesthetic. This boot gives off that kind of punk vibe without your having to go and get your face pierced or wear a mohawk.

It’s a modern take on rock’n'roll, and who doesn’t want that look, effortlessly!

I would love to have the short western boot. I think the knee boots are so classy but I have thick calf’s and can’t wear them. You would think that to be little and petite I could but no… I have a short foot so I guess that makes them smaller around.I’v tried the wide width but then to foot is to wide. I see other women with them looking so up-to-date and smart and envy them. The short western boot can be wore with casual pants or jeans. Most any type shirt will go with the outfit, casual or dressy. The fashion now is dress-up, bling western. I would probably wear them with black dress pants and a deep purple silk button up long sleeve blouse. Then I would put on a touch of class in silver. I would probably wear them for church or to the movies. Then to change I would go to my grandson’s rodeo I would wear them with skinney dark jeans and a western shirt trimmed with flash and rinestone western belt and western rinestone earrings to match. These boots are so soft and comfortable looking and they are just so rugged and worn looking. I could wear them with most anything.

My favorite boots are the Engineer boots. I would wear them to spice up my wardrobe after I have a baby in January. I know it will take a while to lose the baby weight, but these will make me feel stylish no matter how big my waistline is! If everyone is staring at the boots, they won’t even notice a few extra rolls in my belly. Besides, with spit-up stains on my shirt, it will be nice to have something to make me feel stylish

      Oh me..oh my..
how can I ever pick from all the wonderful Fryes?!?
      All of them pretty..incredibly cute
they must be the envy of all the other boots.
I love them all..any of them would make my feet
look ever so amazing walking down any street.
But since I know I must make a choice..a hard one at that
It all comes down to..do I want them with a heel or flat?
With a heel, I declare, so the Matilda Button Tall Boot I choose
no offense to the other Frye beauties, for none of you lose
If I had a million dollars or could make that darn money tree grow..
I would take you all home with me..for I know..
that Frye boots are the best of the best
and my feet wouldn’t be happy in any of the rest.
So I hope I win this one hundred dollar treat
so a pair of Frye boots..will soon be on my feet :)

I’m in love the Matilda Button-Tall Boot. They remind me of an updated and modern version of Victorian style boots like the ones you see girls wearing on old Christmas decorations (my mom always has things like that around the house during the Holidays) and the the shoes my antique dolls had when I was little. I would wear them dressed down with skinny jeans or out with a tunic dress and some big sunglasses and vintage jewelry.

I love the Matilda Button Tall Boots. I wear boots all fall, winter, and most of spring since I live in a cold, snowy state. I love the height of the heel so I could wear them with my favorite jeans and dress is up or down. The buttons on the side give them a great vintage feel so I could totally rock them with a skirt and feel like a lady. :)

As a teacher, I stand all day long, so it is difficult to find stylish boots that are also comfortable. Looking at the Frye boots, it seems that the Shirley Riding Boots look both stylish and comfortable and would be great with a skirt or jeans.

I’m soooo in love with Frye boots! The quality and workmanship of the boots are superb. I’ve been lusting after the Melissa Button boot for awhile now and I’ve been searching ALL over the web to find a good deal (dear husband won’t let me spend $300 on a pair of boots, even though I’d wear them EVERY SINGLE day and it’d be totally worth it!) and even enlisted the help of some of wonderful bloggers to find a knock-off but so far I haven’t been able to come close.

Anyway, I’d get the Melissa Button boot in Fawn (such a gorgeous color) and pair them with a skinnies and a long cardi for now, in the winter I’d pair them with a chunky knit dress and leggings. In the spring, I’d pair them sans leggings with a cute flowy flower print dress. Oh, the possibilities are endless.

I’ve been dreaming about those boots at night for a couple weeks now, not even joking. I think about the boots ALL the time, just thinking up what I’d pair them with. I’ve been trying to forget about them (because of the unaffordability) but it’s just too hard.

These boots are super stylish with that country flair that I love. I can pair them with skirts and trousers and be super dressed up for work or I can pair them with jeans for a great country concert. Would be great to be comfortable in a buttoned-up work place! thanks!
