The Founding of Juicy Couture
In 1994, Juicy Couture co-founders/designers and residents of Pacoima, California, Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor (wife of Duran Duran’s John Taylor) started selling maternity pants, creating their own fashion label, Travis Jeans.
Skaist-Levy and Nash-Taylor changed the name to Juicy Couture in 1996 as they shifted their focus to high-end girly apparel, more affordable to the general public than other major labels.
Skaist-Levy and Nash-Taylor spread brand awareness by sending completed designs to celebrities, such as Madonna, who is credited with turning the velour tracksuit into a trend. Madonna’s tracksuit had “Madge” embroidered on it, and once Madonna was spotted wearing it in 2001, Juicy Couture quickly became a known brand.
In 2003, Skaist-Levy and Nash-Taylor sold the company to Liz Claiborne Inc.
Juicy Couture Today
Today, Juicy Couture has its hands in everything it seems — from perfume to socks to toiletries and even dog accessories.
Recently, Juicy Couture has undergone creative leadership changes instigated by Liz Claiborne Inc. CEO, William L. McComb. Juicy’s co-founder-designers are switching to non-operating creative consulting roles at the company for the final year of their contract. Skaist-Levy and Nash-Taylor are already looking into starting up another lifestyle collection once the non-compete clause of their contract ends.
So who will reinvigorate Juicy Couture? Erin Fetherston has been tapped as guest designer and creative consultant, according to WWD. Beginning May 1, Fetherston will design the Juicy Couture line’s summer-fall 2011 and holiday 2011 collections. There are also plans for Fetherston to roll out a few exclusive limited edition pieces for holiday 2010.

I believe in using accessories to dress up any outfit and Juicy Couture makes some of the most gorgeous stand-out jewelry pieces I ever saw. I would wear this ring with a simple white sundress and white wedges to make sure my ring is the center of attention

I love Juicy Couture is because it is just that: Juicy! It is young, fashionable, yet casual and it is one brand that many celeb and I can both wear and not break my bank. I love their campaign ads in magazines, their terry cloth fabrics that looks so cute when walking around. And their jewelry is beautiful!

I like Juicy Couture because it’s fashionable and comfortable.
I like the Striped Military Cardigan, the Cropped Ruffle Cardigan, 3/4 Sleeve Twill Jacket, and many of the leggings styles. That said I saw several accessories that I’d love to have, too.
I love Juicy Couture because it is trendy, but with a classic note that will keep it timely for years to come.

NO DOUBT I would get something in the Juicy Couture Camo…the shorts probably. I adore Juicy because my 28 year old daughter started wearing it when she was a mid teen. For years and years at holidays I bought Juicy clothes and jewelry as gifts for her. It rubbed off on me and now I LOVE JUICY!!!
I love Juicy Couture, and not so that I can wear their namebrand on my butt. I love that there is MORE to the brand than just those terry-cloth jump suits. Why have we only been fascinated with that?! Like, I love the long dress with crochet featured on Shopbop–comfy but also bringing a little hippie to your wardrobe. I also love their flower punk strand necklace; a definite jewelry statement piece!

I have to admit. I’d go with the Short Sleeve Terry Hoodie and/or the matching Original Terry Pants. I love the look of a well-fitting track suit for lounging around the house or running a few quick errands…and they’re perfect for pregnancy too (not that I’m pregnant…but maybe someday soon)!

Every spring for the past few years, I’ve treated myself to a new Juicy Couture summer handbag. There was the cherry-printed terry Daydreamer bag with red patent leather trim; the pink and green Baby Fluffy bag with flower trim; and last year’s yellow tote with a gold bee ornament!
To me, nothing says summer like Juicy Couture.
