I Am Not Settling For Less Than I Am

The year just turned new and already it seems so long ago that we all shared our New Year Resolutions. Here we are 3 weeks later and I wonder, just how many of us have already forgotten the promises to ourselves?  To be better people. Healthier people. Stronger people.  Wiser people.  It’s super easy to do when no one else is holding you accountable.  Self-accountability is a huge challenge, there is no shame in that.  Being aware that you require extra support is the next step in achieving your goals.  Everyone needs help sometimes!

A perfect example of this happened to me last year.  I had a very exciting opportunity to work with a major brand and wanted to look my very best for the first meet-up.  Not only did I want my skin glowing and my hair looking healthy and colored to perfection, I wanted my arms toned, my legs sculpted and my rear tighter.  I had 21 days to get myself there and I know myself well enough to know that there was no way I was going to do it on my own.  I started working with a fitness coach.  Someone I could turn to with questions, get support AND that extra push that I needed every day.  It was easy to say I “worked out” every day but the intensity wasn’t necessarily there.  With someone there to push me and correct my technique, I was able to acheive amazing results that I never would have accomplished on my own. (I know this about myself, I’m OK with admitting it!)

Ultimately, I lost 4 pounds, 5 total inches and 2% body fat in 21 days. I felt like my skin was healthy and fresh. Most importantly, I felt good! The effort was totally worth it! You can read about my journey at Mom Beauty Bootcamp.

After re-reading about my experience, I’m motivated to get going again. It’s been 8 months since I trained that hard and I actually kind of miss it…(maybe not the pain so much as the results!).  I know and understand that I have to work hard to acheive and that means with fitness and health too!  I also know that I need guidance and support.  Paying for it with a coach is not unthinkable. It’s actually smart. You are held accountable because you paid them to keep you that way.  They are held accountable because you paid them (unlike a friend who may flake on you).  It’s a win-win. So, whether it’s a fitness coach, cooking instructor, marriage counselor, business coach or foreign language tutor, I challenge you to take a step toward seeking guidance and support!

Let’s get each other motivated and support each other in our dreams and goals!  None of us should settle for less than we are! I’m ready, are you?
