I’m sure you’ve heard of Latisse, the FDA-approved eyelash enhancing serum from Allergan that is promoted by celebrity mom, Brooke Shields. Allergan was recently called out by the FDA to better educate the consumer on the possible side effects of Latisse.
Some such side effects include:
- Lid Pigmentation
- Hair Growth Outside the Treatment Area
- Intraocular Inflammation
- Eye-itching
- Redness
- And the big one…increased browning of the iris
Makeup Bag has been using latisse and being a brown-eyed girl, didn’t worry about the last side effect. She did however experience red itchy eyelids. Her lashes do look darker and longer after continued use.
Does this really sound like a product you want to spend $130 per month on? Not me, especially since I have blue eyes!
Instead, I encourage you to give LashFood a try!

LashFood is a natural eyelash conditioner that uses Biotin (essential vitamins), Arginine (Natural Amino Acids) and Iris Extract to promote the healthy growth of lashes. With continued use, this natural product will help your lashes grow longer, stronger and darker.
You apply LashFood like you would liquid eyeliner, to the lash roots. Since it’s a clear product, you don’t need to worry about how straight your line is like you do with eyeliner! Apply morning and night. Results can be expected in 2-4 weeks, with full results in 2-3 months. An individual bottle will last you about 5 months.
I have been using it for two weeks and only applying at night because that is when I remember! I did not find LashFood to irritate my eyes. My lashes are definitely darker (except my one albino lash- so weird!) but since my lashes are already long, I need to give the LashFood more time to work it’s magic before I can fully determine how much growth I experience.
*This product is FDA registered but is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women.

I was just talking about the Latisse stuff wondering what the side effects were. Thanks for the post. I will have to give the other a try. My lashes have gotten shorter and lighter it seems.
Latisse has worked great for me…
No side effects so far, I have heard they are pretty rare…but good to know about them.
I found a great inexpensive place to buy from
http://www.latisse.bz, http://www.yourlatisse.com. An M.D. backing the whole thing and reviewing your history and only $89 with $7 shipping – worth looking at..
oh – and lots so great information on the longlashesonline.com site too – if you have any questions about Latisse – they have the answer for you.
did i remember to tell you the site? http://www.longlashesonline.com Latisse is only $89. there.
I’ve been using it and really can see the difference, no side effects – just my lashes getting really longer and fuller!!…Latisse seems to really be working.
Did a lot of research too, and read the medical info (I’m a nurse) and the stats on the clinical trial are really encouraging – no iris color change was ever documented with the Lashes growing – it was only seen when they used it as a glaucoma medication – and then it was rare.
the most common side effect was more redness and itchiness – in the beginning -
hyperpigmentation on the eyelid was rare too –
like all medications – you should use as directed..more is not necessarily better. Lots of conversations out there about the applicators.
Not wise to use other types of applicators. Use the ones that come with Latisse, they are sterile and are designed to be sure you get the correct dose.
my 2 cents. thanks.
I’ve been using LashFood for about 2 months. It’s worked really well for me – after having kids it’s like my lashes disappeared! I saw on their website that they have a new mascara and eyeliner set. I want to try that next!
They are offering $20 rebates until the middle of January of a single vial purchase of latisse. Cost is only $89/bottle to begin with!
sorry I mean latisse.bz is offering these rebates!

I’ve been trying lashfood and it’s suggested eye makeup for a couple weeks. The new mascara is clumpy, sticky, flaky, and is as dry as the oldest mascara I have ever held onto. My eyes have had increasing problems over these two weeks. Burning as if I was exposed to cigarette smoke with a slight sandy dry feeling to the eye. My vision is getting cloudy, blurred, and parts of the letters have spaces or holes in them. Closing my eyes brings some temporary relief. Have you had any other comments like mine? Do you have any idea what might be the trouble? Thanks for any suggestions.
Best wishes,
Lynn
