Review: Olay Professional Pro-X
Olay has been really pushing their ad campaign for the new Olay Pro X! I even saw an ad for it on our local movie screen! Smart concept; professional strength at an affordable price. I think that works for most people don’t you?
Unfortunately this product does not work for every one. Like any other product, you’ll find what works for your skin type and what doesn’t. That’s why it’s important to read reviews and learn what you can about a product, maybe purchase one of the products to try before investing in the entire line.
While Olay Pro X is sold at most drugstores, the cost is higher than many drugstore brand skin care. The Olay Pro X Age Repair Lotion with SPF 30 (2.5 oz) sells for $47. The starter kit (shown above) retails for $61.50. Hardly “dime store” prices but what is anymore?!
Should the product work more effectively since it is priced significantly higher than other drugstore brands? Olay’s claim is this:

Overall, I love the Olay ProX Professional line, although I can’t say that the addition of palmitoyl dipeptide-7, a silicone-based filler, and more sunscreen makes the 2.5 oz Olay ProX Age Repair Lotion SPF 30 worth $26.04 than 2.5 oz of Olay Regenerist Lotion SPF 15 (and those are the discounted prices on Amazon.com!) OMG my skin broke out into those nasty hives I was telling you about! On top of it, my skin got this really rough feeling texture…almost like Sand Paper. My skin definitely does not react well to all of the ingredients. I think the product is too strong for me.

I can’t say I enjoy the Age Repair Lotion much; it’s a bit slippery-feeling. The Eye Restoration Complex and Wrinkle Smoothing Cream feel great on my skin, but honestly, I’ve used better products in both categories. I do love that this kit encourages daily age-fighting for those without the means to spend a lot on skincare products; however, experienced anti-aging buffs won’t be impressed. I’ve been using this kit for about a month now, and I haven’t really seen any life-altering results.

I liked the texture of the Eye Restoration Complex; it seemed to absorb quickly into my skin and left my under eye area smooth. Unfortunately, it started to cause a burning sensation around my eyes after about three days (not fun).
Beauty Girl Musings
My thoughts? Nothing special. I didn’t experience the breakouts that some of the beauty bloggers did but I can’t say my face looks younger or has a boost in cell-turnover. I’ve been using it for 2 months and I don’t dislike it but when I run out, I won’t spend the money to buy an average product again.
