Review: L’Oreal Paris HiP Kohl Eyeliner

HiP Kohl Eyeliner in Gold

Oh my beloved L’Oreal Paris, WHAT were you thinking with this new HiP High Intensity Pigment Kohl Eyeliner?  Are you trying to stab our eyes out?  No, of course you aren’t because you love your consumers but this product is just so wrong!

Ladies, imagine dipping a toothpick into a loose powder eye shadow then lining your eyes with it.  That’s what the application of the new L’Oreal Paris HiP High Intensity Pigment Kohl Eyeliner is like. Not too appealing, right? To make matters worse, you are left with powder flakes all over your freshly done face.

The nicest thing I have to say about this product is that there are 6 beautiful shades to choose from.  I especially love the Teal Kohl (4th from left).

I suggest you pass on this one. It’s not worth the money in your limited beauty budget.  A better value and a better product is the L’Oreal Paris HiP Color Truth Cream Eyeliner (also available in many pretty shades!)

Personally, I don’t get these powder eyeliners. They obviously shower your whole face with colored powder — an annoying situation.

I actually like these, sure they are a bit tricky but the colors are gorgeous and last forever once applied. I usually put on my eye makeup before my foundation, but if you do foundation first you can add a good amount of loose powder under the eyes to catch stray powder.

Thanks for your input Karina! What do you think of the applicator? You can control it and it doesn’t hurt you?

    Thanks for the honest review.

I use the applicator sideways, the pointy part does not make contact with my waterline or lashline. Sort of like a wimpier version of traditional kohl application. And when I say it lasts, I mean it lasts. I put it on one night at 7 PM, went out for dinner, went to a couple of bars, walked downtown in 80 degree sticky weather, the rest of my makeup was pretty much gone, except this.

I think you might be doing it wrong. Try looking at this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ub5bfsQ1b5s. I LOVE the stuff.

it’s a really great product. Lasts all day for me, and easy to take off. That’s what I like about it, you don’t have to tug so much to put it on, or off. I have to admit though, it DOES require some skill to use. Not recommended for first time make up users. But if you master it, you won’t be able to live without it!
