Pumpkins- Not Just for Carving!
By Tammy | October 22, 2009

Pumpkins are not just for carving! Take advantage of the healthy stuff in your pumpkin, including Vitamin A and active enzymes, to brighten your complexion and nourish your skin with a natural chemical exfoliation!
To find out where to shop for these yummy seasonal beauty treats, click the Pumpkin Beauty Treats link above.
DIY Pumpkin Facial:
Step 1: Take 1 medium slice of fresh pumpkin and remove the skin.
Step 2: Cut up into small chunks and puree in a blender or food processor until smooth.
Step 3: Add 1 egg yolk and 2/3 cup milk. Blend again until egg is well incorporated.
Step 4: Apply the mixture to cleansed face and neck, keeping away from the eye area. Leave this mask on for 20 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water. For an added benefit, cut 2 slices of raw sweet potato and put them on your eyelids to help smooth out wrinkles while you wait!

The facial almost sounds like a smoothie!! Just add cinnamon & sugar and you’ve got a fall time exfoliating scrub!!

What a great idea, however I cant stand the smell of pumpkins, does the smell get diluted a bit by the adding of the milk? Or is there something else I can add to make it smell a bit nicer?

Really Faye? I love the smell of pumpkin spice! Most of these products will smell like sweet pumpkin spice, which is the appeal for me
. You’ll have to stick with something a little less harvest! Maybe a cranberry scent? That’s also great for this time of year.

I love to get pumpkin enzyme peels when I get facials. I can definitely feel it work (it does sting to various degrees depending on the strength) but it works like a natural glycolic. Love it. My favorite part of fall is the “Pumpkin Spice” smell, but it has to be sweet, not overly spicy
