You are all familiar with Carmindy, I’m sure. She’s the makeup artist on What Not to Wear worthy of being famous with a single name: Carmindy. Like Madonna, she’s just so well known, she doesn’ need a last name.
While I’ve often thought some of the comments Carmindy makes on the show are a bit harsh (your brows are scary! and other similar comments), I can’t deny that the woman does know how to make a woman look her best! Carmindy is great at toning down a woman’s overdone face to make her look naturally beautiful, not made up. It’s this talent that led her to write the hottest new book in the beauty section at your favorite bookstore: Get Positively Beautiful: The Ultimate Guide to Looking and Feeling Gorgeous.
Chapter One is the best chapter in the book as it’s a wonderful reminder to the reader to believe that looking good starts with feeling good. Carmindy starts off the book with a bang:
“Before we consider what to put on our faces, we must confront what’s going on inside our heads! For a lot of us, it’s a blurry mess of negativity. But right now, we can choose to make a change: we can decide to sharpen our focus and start seeing the positive.” She goes on to say, “I can show you lots of ways to gloss up your pucker, but you’ll only be pretty if you feel that way without a darn thing on those lips. And you’ll only be beautiful when kind, loving words pass from them!”
Amen Sister!
Carmindy shares (still on the first page of the book!) how what we think affects how we look. “Though we can’t control how the world comes at us, we can decide to feel good about ourselves and to meet challenges head-on, without best face forward. A confident face that knows its finest features and plays them up. A one-of-a-kind face that honors its special beauty and owns it from the inside out.”
I wish I could write the entire first chapter here as it’s so good and full of positive thought-provoking ideas!
The rest of the book is about the makeup. It teaches you how to identify your strongest feature and how to play it up to focus on your unique, natural beauty. With step-by-step instruction and plenty of beautiful pictures to demonstrate and inspire, you’ll really find this book useful.
One word of caution, this is not the book you want to take on the plane with you for the upcoming holidays! It’s large and heavy since it’s so full of helpful information! It’s a beautiful gift idea to consider, just plan on shipping it directly!
