Perfect Pairs: Girl Scout Cookies + Wine

Perfect Pairs: Girl Scout Cookies + Wine
Given that it is Girl Scout Cookie Time, I’m sure many of you have stocked your cupboards (or freezers in the case of Thin Mints!). How perfect is it that Together Wine Co. put together this wine and cookie pairing guide? Thank you, Together Wine Co. Thank you.

2014 Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc, $25/bottle

With a grape picked in early September 2013 and fermented in stainless steel for 8 months, this Sauvignon Blanc has delicious notes of apricot and citrus. Pair with Trefoils for a twist on a traditional shortbread cookie, bringing together the yeast tone of the cookie with the tastes of apricot and citrus. The acidity of the Sauvignon Blanc pairs deliciously with Samoas because the flavors mirror and compliment one another.

2013 Napa Valley Proprietary Blend, $43/bottle

This grape was picked in late September 2013 and fermented in new French oak barrels with a slight toasting and a proprietary blend of Syrah Grenache and Petit Syrah. With notes of red plumb, ripe cherry, red apple skin, this beautiful blend of sweet fruits would mix nicely with Tagalongs: thank peanut butter and jelly.  Arguably the most popular of the cookie, Thin Mint’s mint and dark chocolate flavors are a perfect addition to the sweetness and fruit flavors of this wine to create the perfect balance.

2013 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, $55/bottle

Blended with Cab. Franc and Petit Verdot, this Cabernet Sauvignon was picked along the same time as the blend and fermented in new/used French Oak for 22 months. This Cabernet Sauvignon brings notes of vanilla bean, black plum, dark berries as well as espresso and mint. The peanut butter tastes in bothDo-Si-Dos and Trios pair well with this particularly desert-like taste. The Do-Si-Dos add a nutty taste while the Trios satisfy the chocolate cravings.
