Apparently, the latest nail trend isn’t actually all that new. Celebrity moms like Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Lopez have been fans for some time now. You’ve maybe had it done yourself! I’m talking about Gel Manicures.
A gel nail is typically a pre-mixed polymer and monomer gel that is first applied to the nails and then cured under ultra-violet lights. Many women use it as an alternative to acrylic nails when having long nails put on. But here is the new twist: wear your nails short with a gel manicure!
Many moms opt to wear short nails, I know I do! Ever since the birth of my first born, my thumb nails peel and break at any length. My nails are not, admittedly, a priority in my beauty routine. Plus, short nails take less time to maintain and are safer for the babies and toddlers we tote around. But, we still long for our hands to look nice when we are showing off our fun new cocktail ring! Gel nails may be the answer you, and I, need!
According to PopSugarTV, gel manicures cost more than standard manicures (starting at $40) and they take longer. So, why would you get a gel manicure? The nail polish lasts longer! When you are a busy mom who has little time to do her nails, the gel nail provides an option for having the best of both worlds: pretty nails without the daily worry of chipping your color! Though the removal seems a bit tasking, I like the idea of nail color that stays put for more than a couple of days!

Hmm the removal part bothers me. I don’t like polish that takes very long to remove. But the staying power is enough to make me consider it
That’s what I’m thinking, especially for vacations or business trips. Who wants to deal with touch-ups when sitting by the pool or shaking hands with CEOs?
I don’t like the idea of extra UV exposure and skincancer on my hands down the line!
