My Hair Makeover: The Final Results

    By Tammy | December 13, 2008

You voted, I listened.  The winners for my next hairstyle were the Rachel Stevens cut and the Jennifer Aniston color.  I took in the same pictures I showed you.  I discussed the options with my stylist.

She recommended using a semi-permanent color since it has fillers.  Otherwise I might end up with spots in my color.  The semi-permanent lightens with washings but she felt this was the healthiest way to go for my hair.

As for the cut, Rachel’s hair was actually similar to my own cut.  My stylist texturized my ends and gave me a very light trim on the ends.  We left the bangs alone so I can grow them longer and sweep them to the side.

This is what I looked like just before leaving my house this morning (with a rough dry only, don’t judge the frizz…!)

This is what I look like after getting my hair done:

As I commented on a previous post, after viewing all my pictures I thought I looked healthiest with my hair darker.  My skin tone looks pinker.

I wish the color would have come out closer to Jennifer Aniston’s color, which I think is more of a caramel than brownie.  (I think the color I have looks closer to Rachel’s)  It may still get to that shade as the semi-permanent lightens.  I’ll update with a picture in a couple of weeks.

    What do you think?

Thanks for all your votes and comments!  Thanks to Erin at My Hairstyling Tools for helping find some style/color options for me!

The color is more flattering, definetly! The cut seems to be an updated version of what you had which is always good-makes you feel better but you don’t have the stress of figuring out how to do your new hair.

Your style looks great. The color makes your skin glow. Now if you want your hair to look and stay healthy, you need to be sleeping on a satin pillowcase. I had heard a lot about them from friends and also from my stylist. She told me that cotton causes friction leaving you with split ends and frizzes. It also is naturally absorbent so it pulls the moisture from your hair and skin. I switched to a satin pillowcase and I’ve seen a huge difference in my hair and my skin. I don’t wake up with those pillowcase lines on my face in the morning. I found a website that has a page devoted to the benefits of sleeping on satin and they had some absolutely beautiful prints and solid pillowcases. I found a gorgeous pastel flower print. The company is A Touch Of Satin. If you’re interested, their website is http://www.atouchofsatin.com if you want to read about the benefits. Well, I hope this helps you out. My compliments to your stylist. She did a fantastic job!

Perfect! The color will lighten, but I think you’re right, this gives you a much healthier looking complexion. You look fabulous!

The darker color definitely makes you look younger and I like the cut even though it didn’t change much! :)

Thanks everyone. It’s been an adjustment. I’m not loving it. I think it’s darker than the picture shows but I do like the contrast and I don’t think I look as washed out :)

I just did this too! Except I was lighter to begin with and I went a bit darker. God, all I heard about for a week was why? and who is that? I like it better darker.

@cindy: Yeah, isn’t it rude for people to ask you “WHY DID YOU DO IT?” That obviously means they don’t like it! I also found that a lot of people just didn’t comment, which I took to mean they didn’t like it either because it is obviously different!!
