“Getting through the motherhood years will take a good sense of humor and a few cocktails”

How is your Sunday night going? After a long day of trying to catchup and get ahead for the coming week, gathering work for my daughter’s school portfolio and looking at all the tests my son has coming up this week, I sure wish I had the ingredients to close out the weekend with a Sayonara Shandy.

  • 6 Ounces (3/4 cup) chilled lemonade
  • 6 ounces (3/4 cup) cold beer
  • Ice
  • Lemon wheel, for garnish

Stir together the lemonade and beer and serve over ice in a chilled beer mug.  Garnish with lemon wheel.

A nice way to end a hot day, watch the 49ers with my husband and know that one day, I’ll be sad that homeschool days have passed by so quickly.

For more mixed drink recipes with mom in mind, pick up your copy of Mommy Mixology by Janet Frangillo.  This cute little book is full of mom/kid related stories, from conception to kindergarten, that will offer you laughter, tears and strong cocktail recipes!  Some of my favorite cocktail names are: Peach Snots, Cosmopotty, Watermelon Weigh-In, and Penis Colada.  You can imagine the story that goes with each of those drinks!

Bottoms up, Mom!  Life is too short not to sit back and laugh at some of the things we go through as “mommy!”

  1. Not long after Leinenkugel’s helped kick off the shandy craze with their Summer Shandy beer a few years back, with a bit of research I discovered that I could make a better tasting drink by myself much cheaper than buying theirs. You obviously discovered the same thing!
