New Mom Hair Frustration
By Tammy | November 12, 2009
Do you remember being a new mom and getting frustrated with your hair? Not really sure how to style it, you threw it up and out of your face but you really wanted something more special. Samantha feels the same way.

Samantha says:
I am a new mother and am wanting something different with my hair but don’t know which direction to go. I do not want to go short and I would like to stay in the brown/blonde colors, but I would be up for any suggestions you may have. My hair is thick and if let go has a very wavy look to it, but I usually just straighten it in the morning. Please help me.
I turned to the expert advice of the Neil and Amanda, co-owners of the Neil George Salon in Beverly Hills, who are an important part of the Beauty Task Force on A Mom in Red High Heels. Samantha, good news! They like what you already have, change just a few details and you’ll have dream hair!
Neil says:
You hair is nice and long, and you’re young- so keep that length! It looks very pretty on you. Something that would be great for you would be a Brazilian blowout or a Keratin treatment- it will smooth your hair and make it incredibly shiny and soft, and hopefully will eliminate your straightening routine every morning. This treatment is starting to get around to every salon all over America, so there’s probably somewhere close to you that offers this service. Everyone who gets the Brazilian says it saves them a TON of time. As far as a cut, something like Reese Witherspoon’s would be great on you- just a few layers in the front to give you a new fresh shape, and some side swept bangs also.

Amanda says:
I think you have lovely color now, but you could get a few highlights around your face (we call it a face-frame) and a few on the top as well just to brighten up your face a bit. Reese’s color could suit you perfectly as well. Best of luck!
Editor’s Note: Samantha, I love your current color. It’s beautiful! If you need some updo inspiration that will help keep your hair up and out of your face, try these modern, chic and ready for Mommy Duty styles. Please let us know if you make any changes to your style and/or color based on Neil and Amanda’s advice!
