This Mom Needs a Clue When It Comes to Hairstyle and Color

Like many new moms, Tiana is at a loss of what to do with her hair! She’s neglected it for over a year now and is finally ready to gear-up and go for a change! Let’s find out what she has to say and what our Beauty Task Force recommends!

Tiana says:
I’m Tiana and my son just turned 1 year last week. It’s been over a year since I’ve been to a salon and I have an appointment for next Friday (April 2nd). I’m terribly excited but I have NO CLUE what to do with my hair. It’s naturally curly, brown, and the gray streak is turning more and more into my entire head. I like the gray but then I see pictures like the one attached and wonder “who is that?”

I practically live in ponytails. I do not like having my hair in my face and with a toddler it’s just not smart. I can pick out a wardrobe but I’m inept when it comes to my hair. HELP!

Fortunately Tiana, we have an answer for you just in time for your hair appointment! I hope it’s “clue enough” to help you with your style and color choice today!

Celebrity stylist Neil Weisburg and Celebrity Colorist Amanda George, both from the Neil George Salon in Beverly Hills, share their thoughts on what Tiana should do with her hair!

Amanda says:
I am not sure about your budget, but having two kids myself I definitely know how little time there is to get your color done, so, that said, my initial thoughts are to weave in the natural color throughout to make 80 percent of the gray disappear but so that no gray regrowth line appears in a matter of weeks , rather than blending, will give you a much longer time frame in which to return to the salon. I would probably run a gloss in between the foils to give shine and marry everything together.

Neil says:
A long graduated bob a la Gwyneth Paltrow would be great with your face shape, and give you have a brand new fresh look. Just make sure it’s just long enough so you can pull it back if you must! Just get a large round brush and blowdry hair under with a blowdryer. Even if you just let it air dry it will be a very flattering shape for your curls too.

A Mom in Red High Heels says:
Tiana, I like Selena Gomez’s look for you! It’s thick, full and wavy, like your own hair!  The gloss Amanda recommended will help your hair be as shiny as Selena’s!  Define your waves with a curling iron. The change would be minor but make a huge impact on how polished you look!

As an additional option, I’d suggest the Brazilian Blowout. Not only will you get smooth, frizz-free hair, you’ll have healthier hair for it! Plus, it takes far less time to style!  Good luck!  Let us know what you decide to do!
