I love when moms write to me asking for hairstyle advice! I think that your hairstyle says more about you than your personal fashion choices and I also think it’s the first thing that moms neglect when it comes to keeping themselves looking great…well, that and exercising (guilty!), but that is another topic…
Amanda wrote to me asking for some help with her hair. She’s ready for a dramatic change in hairstyles! Let’s read what she wrote:

Amanda says:
Hi, my name is Amanda. I am looking to do something with my hair and I was wondering if you can help me out. I am not afraid of change even if it’s dramatic. I did want to have my hair long but I’m not sure if that would look good on me. My hair is thin and I’m going grey. My head gets itchy when I try to dye it so I stayed away from color for awhile. I have two kids so I really don’t like taking the time to blow dry or flat iron it. I really can’t stand hair in my face so I stayed away from bangs. I really need some advice.
I turned to the expert advice of the Neil and Amanda, co-owners of the Neil George Salon in Beverly Hills, who are an important part of the Beauty Task Force on A Mom in Red High Heels:
Neil says:
Right away, I thought a graduated bob would be perfect for you. It’s great because you can keep it longer in the front, and a little shorter in the back, so if it grows out a bit, it can still look chic. You should part it dramatically on the side to give it a super fashionable look. This cut you can let air dry, or if you wanted to, blowdry it. She’s more of a fashion star than a celebrity, but Leigh Lezark has a perfect example of this haircut.

Amanda George says:
For your color, pick a color close to yours now, but in a semi-permanent. This won’t mask the grays completely, but it should cover them enough. If you wanted to eventually get some highlights, that could also help blend the grays.
Editor’s Note:
I love the sleek, modern and simple style recommended for you Amanda! You’ll need to grow out some layers and add a style serum to your routine to add shine and help control frizz. If you can find the time to blowdry your hair, try the hairfreé™ brush that works as a flat iron while you blow dry and you’ll save yourself some styling time! Your hair only needs to be washed every other day, at the most, so your style will only need to be done as frequently. Good luck and let us know what you think of these recommendations!
