New Mom Heather asked for some hairstyle suggestion to help her out of her ponytail rut. She needed something low-maintenance for her thick hair but she wanted it a bit edgy and something that didn’t scream “MOM”. Erin from Salon Hive and My Hairstyling Tools to give us her expert opinion on Heather’s hair. You can read the suggestions here.
Heather finally has a style that she is happy with. She shares about her hairstyle makeover here:
Thank you SO MUCH for the suggestions! It’s been a bit of a journey getting to my current haircut (which I LOVE).
I tried explaining your suggestions to the the first stylist I went to, but she didn’t really listen at all and I ended up with a truly wretched haircut (triangle-head). There are no pictures of this haircut, for good reason!
Life got hectic for a bit (my family just moved, with an almost-6-month-old!), so I just slapped a bandanna on my head and tried to make the best of it. Once we got settled I found a stylist up here and asked him to do some damage control, and we ended up with the current look! Actually, this is about a month later, so it’s getting a little shaggy, but it still looks good
Thank you again for the suggestions – they helped me move in the right direction and end up with a look I’m (finally) happy with!
Heather’s New Look:

I think you look FANTASTIC Heather! Your hairstyle screams hip, cool, stylish modern Mom…exactly what you are! I’m glad it finally turned out to be what you love!
Editor’s Note: If you are wanting to change your style BRING A PICTURE to the salon with you of what you want! If you don’t, the stylist will misinterpret what you want (we all have different versions of what “longer bob” hairstyle means!)! Prevent the “wretched haircut” that Heather experienced and save yourself the days of wearing a bandanna to cover the mess!
