Meet Stephanie Sheaffer the Metropolitan Mama!

Your Name: Stephanie SheafferStephanie Sheaffer from Metropolitan Mama

How many Children Do You Have? One – a beautiful, blue-eyed, bright, and bubbly little girl. We just celebrated her first birthday.

Your Business Name: Metropolitan Mama

Brief Description of Your Business:
My blog, Metropolitan Mama, is geared to moms in their 20′s and 30′s who are pregnant or who have little ones under age three (although all moms are welcome!). I blog about fitness, fashion, freebies, and general information to help moms navigate the challenges and wonders of early motherhood.

Do you work from home or do you go to an office?
I am fortunate to be able to work from home 85% of the time. The other 15% of the time, I am at meetings or special events.

Do you get yourself ready everyday or do you find yourself hanging out in jammies for a large portion of the day?
On days when I don’t have meetings, I usually wear jeans and a cute tee.

What is your favorite beauty tip?
Drink lots of water. Exercise regularly. Eat in. Wear sunscreen.

What did your mother teach you about beauty and fashion?
Beauty is fleeting; concentrate on your character instead.

What is your favorite outfit in your closet and why?
My boot-cut jeans, brown tee, brown boots, and leather jacket. There’s something comfortable, classic, and “girl-next-door” about this outfit that I love…but it’s also stylish.

What motivates you to look your best?
My little girl – I want to be a role model of a beautiful woman (inside and out).

Any time saving beauty tips to share?
Invest in high-quality, classic pieces that you can mix and match so you can find things to wear when you stand in your closet.

Name one product you can’t live without: Cover Girl Smoothers 15 Tinted Moisturizer

Heels or flats? Heels! I love how they elongate my legs – and how they can be dressed up or down.

Lip gloss or Lip Stick? Lipstick (especially the long-lasting kind)!

Any additional comments on beauty and style you’d like to share:

Image is important, no matter how much we want to resist that idea. Here are my favorite quotes about that concept…

“…a good appearance can be an important aid in business as well as social and personal relationships.” (Sylvia Silverman, 1945, Clothing and Appearance)

“We teach people how to treat us [by how we dress].” (Shannon Ethridge, 2003, Every Woman’s Battle)

“Don’t underestimate the importance of dressing well…” (Keith Ferazzi, 2005, Never Eat Alone)

Editor’s Note: Thank you Stephanie for sharing those quotes! It’s true that we want to believe that inner beauty is the only thing that counts but in this society, it does matter how you present yourself. Take pride in your outward appearance for the sake of your inward confidence! Reread Stephanie’s favorite beauty tips for a second glance at the key to true beauty- it’s self-care to the core!
