Meet Jamie Bird of MiniMe BabyGear

Your Name: Jamie BirdJamie Bird of MiniMe BabyGear

How many children do you have? 2 (Jamie just had her second baby! I’m waiting to hear if it’s a boy or girl! Hopefully she’ll comment for us!)

Your Business Name: MiniMe BabyGear

Brief Description of Your Business:
I specialize in mostly handmade baby products—unique, trendy, and high quality items I fell in love with when I had my own son.

Do you get yourself ready everyday or do you find yourself hanging out in jammies for a large portion of the day?
Most days you would find me in pajamas. Thank goodness no one can see me, or they would be in for a sight! I am a habitual night owl- usually three or four am, so our mornings are pretty relaxed.

What is your favorite beauty tip? One thing that makes me feel good about myself is when I paint my nails. It seems like such a little thing, but it makes me feel pretty.

What did your mother teach you about beauty and fashion? My mother taught me how to hunt for a bargain. Sometimes changing the smallest thing- adding a belt, shortening a skirt- can make a sale rack item a true treasure.

What is your favorite outfit in your closet and why? Right now it is anything that does not make me look huge. I am six months pregnant and starting to feel the extra pounds! (Readers, Jamie has been patiently waiting for her interview to go up! Thanks Jamie!)

What motivates you to look your best? My husband. It might sound antiquated, and he certainly tells me often I am beautiful without make-up, but I love it when he looks at me and says, “Wow, you look beautiful.”

As a mom, “Me Time” is limited… what are your time saving beauty tips? One thing that saves me time is getting both my sons and my outfit ready the night before. Getting all the pieces together ahead of time keeps me organized in the morning.

Name one product you can’t live without: Ageless Results Eye Cream by Avon. I need more sleep, so this is my substitute for now.

Heels or flats? Heels, for sure!

Lip gloss or Lip Stick? Lip gloss

Any additional comments on beauty and style you’d like to share? Just that I feel like women, myself included, are too hard on themselves. How much greater would it be if we all took the Dove Real Beauty campaign to heart?

Editor’s Note: Thanks for your thoughts, Jamie! It would be really fabulous for society to embrace the Dove Real Beauty Campaign! History shows us that curvy women have always been seen as the beauties. Look at art. Look at Hollywood stars back in the 20′s. Moms, let’s get confident! Beauty comes in all sizes!
