Brief Description of Your Business:
Momologie is a free daily e-newsletter and website that offers fresh ideas and inspiration for family life.
MiGi is a consumer product brand for baby / kids. The brand consists of nursery collections, stationery available through Tiny Prints, and baby floral arrangements available through Teleflora.
What was your inspiration to start your business?
Michele & I started our initial business, MiGi over 10 years ago after working for Martha Stewart Living. We’ve been experts in the lifestyle space for over 10 years. We’ve contributed to many magazines and websites providing original content. Once we became moms, we focused on the mommy space. We realized that moms want information that’s relateable, stylish, and an easy read that can be used in their daily lives.
When do you make time to run a business with your busy MOM schedule?
Gia – It’s very hard – we juggle a lot. We work during school hours / bedtime hours… whenever there’s a free moment.
Michele—I agree, the lines get blurred, especially these days because we are launching a new business. When I’m with my son, I try to focus on having a great time with him and I’ll put work aside during that time.
What is your favorite beauty tip?
Gia – My favorite beauty tip is to never leave the house without lip gloss, eye concealer and mascara.
Michele—My favorite beauty tip is to use an eyebrow powder to enhance my eyebrows. It’s the quickest way to look naturally pulled together.
What is your favorite beauty product to bring along when you travel?
Gia – My favorite beauty products that I travel with are Kiehl’s face cream and body lotion
Michele—A flat iron. It can instantly transform my hair and make me look pulled together in under 5 minutes.
Tell us about the outfit that makes you feel confident and beautiful.
Gia – I love wearing skinny jeans, a comfy shirt, flats and gold hoop earrings. For me, it’s all about being comfortable and practical.
Michele—I love skinny jeans and cords as well. This season I like the fit of J Brand 10” skinny with zippers. These jeans work well with flats, sandals and boots so no matter what the weather is in LA, I’ll have the right shoes to wear with my favorite Jeans.
What’s your favorite online site to shop for beauty or fashion?
Gia – For fashion, I like J Crew.com or Anthropologie.com
Michele—I love Shopbop, Revolve Clothing, Martin + Osa
What motivates you to look your best?
Michele–I like to look pulled together for my guys—my husband and my son.
As a mom, “Me Time” is limited… what are your time saving beauty tips?
Gia – applying my make up takes 10 minutes tops. I also like to wash my hair the night before an early morning meeting.
Michele– I’ve got my makeup routine down so I can apply on auto-pilot. Once I get my skin evened out, the rest falls into place.
Name one beauty product you can’t live without:
Gia – I can’t live without my eye concealer!
Michele—Giorgio Armani compact foundation. It comes with a special brush that allows it to go on completely sheer, even and flawless. I love that I can layer it in areas that need more help.
Heels or flats? Describe your favorite pair.
Gia – flats — my favorite pair of flats are metallic pewter with a wood buckle. I love these because there are comfortable and go with my entire wardrobe.
Michele—Definitely flats for everyday (Marc by Marc Jacobs metallic pewter ballet flats with a scallop edge)–they go with everything. I love heels if I’m going out because I’m on the tall side and they make me look even taller.
Lip-gloss or Lip Stick? Do you have a favorite brand/color?
Gia – Lip-gloss! My favorite is from Target called Sexy MotherPucker in nude.
Michele—Definitely lip gloss. I don’t really have a favorite brand—I just choose based on the color.
