Your Business Name: Cade Christian
Brief Description of Your Business: Cade Christian is the newest…and hottest line of children’s, tween and adult trucker and military style caps. Fun, funky, urban and edgy are just a few words that describe the uniqueness of the Cade Christian brand.
When do you make time to run a business with your busy MOM schedule? This is always a challenge, because Cade does not like me being on the phone or computer when I am home. Do any children like this? I try to fit most of it in when he is napping, in the evening or when he is at morning preschool. My husband is very supportive and fortunately he works from home as well.
What is your favorite beauty tip? I have a few quick ones.
- My one-inch curling iron is my favorite, especially when the humid weather gets a hold of my hair. The trick is not to curl all the way to the end, but leave about 1 ½ inches of straight hair at the bottom and curl tight to the root. Ten minutes and you can look like a super star.
- My next favorite, is to keep your eyebrows shaped (and tinted, if necessary). A great shape really helps open up your eyes and shapes your face.
- My next is Eye-Alert by Kiehl’s.
What did your mother teach you about beauty and fashion? My mom loves jewelry of all sorts, from antique jewelry to costume. She is a very good at accessorizing and helps me in that arena.
What is your favorite outfit in your closet and why? I have a couple but I love my gauzy-style skirts (long or short) with bright patterned tops. A skirt is something that can compliment any figure, and still be feminine. It’s about picking the right length and right top for your body. Don’t go bulky on top and bottom.
What’s your favorite online site to shop for beauty or fashion? Nordstrom is always a winner here for me, but I love online shopping a lot, not one online store is off limits. I buy from everywhere. As for beauty online shops, I don’t spend a lot of time viewing websites for beauty tips. I love looking at magazine’s and what the models/celebrities are wearing, especially lip color and new eye looks. You have to test all looks on yourself and you need to try lots of brands to find the one that works best for your color. Just because it’s a favorite of someone else, it might not be the best for you.
What motivates you to look your best? Being a business owner for sure. As my business grows and the more I am in the spotlight, it’s important that I portray an image that is supportive to the things I design, if I promote a fun, funky and edgy line, but I don’t dress that way, I don’t want to be perceived as an amateur.
As a mom, “Me Time” is limited… what are your time saving beauty tips? Don’t wash your hair everyday. Sleep with it in a ponytail on top of your head.and pull out that curling iron mentioned above.
Name one beauty product you can’t live without: Kiehl’s Eye Alert.
Heels or flats? Describe your favorite pair. I love flip flops…of any sort, but I have a great pair of sexy patent leather short boots with a pointy toe that really pull an outfit together.
What has been your worst fashion faux pas? Not packing enough clothes for a vacation with limits the versatility in an outfit.
Lip gloss or Lip Stick? Do you have a favorite brand/color? Lip Gloss. I love Raspberry Rose by Sheer Cover.
Any additional comments on beauty and style you’d like to share: Keep it simple; too much of anything is overwhelming.
- First, limit accessories if you wear glasses.
- Second, don’t be ashamed of sizes, it’s all about the ‘right’ fit for your body.
- Lastly, be confident and smile! It’s doesn’t matter what you wear, it’s about how you hold and present yourself. Think of the other pieces (style and beauty) as just complimentary to an existing foundation.
