    Managing Unruly Hair Texture

    By Tammy | June 15, 2009

Texture can make hair hard to manage. Even when you keep your hair healthy, trimmed and clean, the texture can make styling a frustrating process. This teen needs the professional help of Neil Weisberg of Neil George Salon:

Hi! My name is Gabriela, I’m 17 years old and I’ve always wanted a professional to tell me which kinds of haircuts are good for my face. I like the length and volume of my hair, but I hate how tough, coarse and unmanageable it can be. Please help me!

    Neil says:
A huge help we have nowadays is the Brazilian blowout treatment, that smooths the hair, but doesn’t damage it like a relaxer. This would give you a HUGE boost in the manageability of your coarse, unruly texture. As for a cut suggestion, I think you need to soften your look a bit. Cut some very simple layers around your face to frame it, this will be subtle but also make a huge difference! Selena Gomez has an adorable cut with face framing layers, but it’s not too serious- which is important for a 17-year-old.

Select salons (including the Neil George Salon) offer the Brazilian Blowout Treatment.  For a DIY home treatment, try Liquid Karatin 30 Day Starter Kit.  Best of luck Gabriela!  Let us know if you make any changes!
