We Love Khloe Kardashian Red! Tips to Duplicating Her Hair Color

It didn’t last long but when Khloe Kardashian went red back in 2011, we talked. In fact, we are still talking (and loving!).

Last week Alex left a comment on the original post about Khloe’s hair asking, “What is the exact color of her hair in that picture? I’m dying to know.”

Well Alex, I have an answer! While an EXACT color isn’t possible, I do have a few tips from stylist Donna Kniss that will help you when discussing a color update with your stylist:

“Yes, Chloe’s hair color is stunning and I have always been in love with red! First and foremost, it is important to find a stylist that is well educated and trained! Ask them if they have attended training in the past year. (Although it should be more than once a year.) A swap-meet hair show doesn’t count….the best training is professional classroom time! Also, ask what type of color they are using. I use and prefer a brand that is PPD free and low or no ammonia.

Second, there are many factors in formulating hair color. For example, what are you starting with? Are we covering grey? Is there old color on your hair? Old highlights? What is the overall condition of the hair? In the line I use, the color looks like a level 6 Copper Gold. Talk to your stylist, look at their swatches and go from there! If you aren’t comfortable with their consultation. LEAVE- you have that right. A good Colorist/Stylist will do a thorough consultation. It helps us understand your needs and desires, as well as calms your fear of change.

BTW, the beautiful panels of a lighter color from underneath are extensions! That is a wonderful way to add more hair and another color without damage.

If your looking for me to say its a Red Auburn 305, that would NEVER happen. Every hair color is different. There will never been a one size fits all Box O’ Color! I always mix a formula for the re-growth and then another formula for the ends, to preserve the integrity and quality of your hair! The color boxes are made as if everyone should end up with the same result! That is not possible!

I hope I answered a few questions for you! I hope you have an amazing hair day!”

Alex, and everyone else loving the red, an open and honest conversation with an excellent stylist is important to help you achieve any color!  Part of their job is to help you understand the process and the possibilities.  Sometimes getting the color you want takes several color sessions (going from dark to light, for example) to get it right.  Other times it may be that the color just won’t look good on you.  While you are the ultimate decision maker, please listen and consider what they have to say.  Good luck!
