Lauren Elaine’s Black Label Collection for Spring 2010

Fairytales do come true. At least that was the inspiration behind Lauren Elaine’s Black Label Collection for Spring 2010. The scene was set in the Historic Los Angeles Theatre with soft melodies playing in the background to show off her serene designs.

Lauren Elaine’s collection was very feminine. As these princesses donned the catwalk, long, lean legs strutted across the floor with short, tea-length and floor length looks in pastels and neutral tones. The flowing looks were adorned with braided or ruffled empire and natural waists made of chiffons, taffeta and cotton. This showcase was definitely made with a young adult in mind ready for the night life. Even a few of the designs captured one’s eye as being dressed for the prom.

She took a risk with a few dresses as seen from the Priscilla dress. This ensemble is sateen with a leopard chiffon overlay, glass stone and braid detailing. It gave a little edge to her girlie looks.

Another dress that caught my eye was the Czarina dress in metallic brocade with braid and crystal detailing. It’s fun and flirty.

As a mom, my absolute favorite was the Apollo gown with its rainbow affect. Strapless and floor-length, this gown can be worn casually with flip flops for a day of shopping or all dolled up for a night out on the town.

During my intimate interview with Lauren Elaine, she stated that her target market ranges from ages 16-50, as her mom wears her designs, but in my opinion, the designs were for a young mother, if a mother at all.

The hair was styled to look like a goddess with the top half of the hair pulled up in a high ponytail and half down in the back as spiral curls freely flowed to the shoulders with a few wispy strands fell against the forehead.

To make the girlie look more dramatic, the eyes were dark with shades of black and brown shadows, but with a muted palette in light pinks and beige.

The shoes were in shades of gold, silver and neutral-toned pumps, some open-toed or closed-in. This accessory was kept very casual as not to overpower the elaborate patterns of the dresses.

Overall, her collection may not have been mom-friendly, but I would recommend it for those moms with young women in their lives.

Editor’s Note: Thank you so much for giving us a glimpse at Fashion Week LA, Shelli!  I appreciate your  help in reporting this to us!  I have to admit, I see several dresses I would actually wear should a cocktail party be in my future!  I think her styles are really feminine and flirty.

My daughter was one of the models and Lauren-Elaine and her team were the nicest and most professional group to deal with, not to mention the event was stunning.

Thanks for sharing Kristine! That’s awesome! Congratulations to your daughter! I love the looks Lauren put out, fun and girly. Some of the hem-lines may be too short for this mom but I can really see wearing several of the styles! I’m glad you enjoyed the show. Best of luck to your daughter and Lauren Elaine Designs!
