Ketchup As A Beauty Tool?
By Tammy | July 1, 2009

We all know that summer can be hard on your hair, especially if you swim in a chlorinated pool throughout the season! The solution? Take good care of it by wearing a swim cap or clipping your hair up to prevent it from getting wet. (If you plan to go underwater then rinse your hair in the shower before swimming to fill your porous hair with water. It will absorb less chlorinated water in the shaft if already wet.)
I understand a cap is not all that glamorous and keeping your hair dry when you are in the pool with kids is next to impossible so try this home remedy to remove any green tinge you may have:
- Ketchup! Use the original thick formula and thoroughly smear it on your hair.
- Let it sit for 20 minutes before washing well.
- Enjoy with French Fries while you wait (just kidding).
The red in the ketchup counteract the green and the acid from it helps to remove the mineral that causes the green tinge!
There is discussion about if this really works. Some hair stylists say it just masks the problem, others swear by it. My friend’s daughter has red hair that turned green and they tried it in her hair last summer and it worked great. Why not give it a try? You can use it on all hair colors and it’s not expensive- you could just use the mountains of packs they give you at drive-thrus!
If this DIY remedy doesn’t work for you then try a special shampoo like Nexxus Aloe Rid Gentle Clarifying Shampoo.

Hello,
Ketchup as a beauty tool sounds great – if a little yummy, but Smart Beauty’s toner sachets in Platinum, Ash, Champagne and Natural remove these brassy and disgusting green tones whilst thoroughly conditioning the hair giving it great glossy shine.
Blondes should go for Platinum or Ash, whilst Champagne is great for Strawberry and Cherry toned gals, and Natural for sassy brunettes…
Now… where did I put those fries?
