School has begun. New backpacks, clothes and school supplies have been purchased.  Mornings are crazy once again, evenings are frantic trying to wrap up homework, dinner and bedtime in a short time.  (Whew, I’m so glad I’m not a part of that craziness! We homeschool so no evening homework!).

This year my son started Jr. High.  This is a time of major transition.  If he was going to school, we’d definitely want him to have a phone to communicate with us as needed.  However, because we homeschool and we are together most of the time, he won’t be getting a phone at this time.

Do your kids have phones? What age were they allowed to have one?

If you are in a situation where you child needs a phone, or you feel s/he is ready for one, I have a suggestion to get your started.  kajeet.

What is kajeet? It is the only prepaid wireless service that meets the needs of parents and their children.  It works by allowing parents to manage their kid’s cell phone usage with phones that come installed with kajeet’s free parental controls.

These controls allow parents to set limits on their kid’s cell phone texting, picture messaging and websites accessed via the cell phone, as well as manage what phone numbers calls/text can be made to and received from.

I LOVE this feature: Phones are also installed with a GPS Phone Locator that allows parents to locate the phone if lost or stolen. The GPS Phone Locator feature can be set up to send parents a daily email that gives parents the location of the phone.

Additionally, kajeet’s cell phones also allow parents to control the time of day their kid can use their cell phone.

So many great features! Watch this video for more information:
