Julia Roberts Speaks Out on Lancôme and What Motherhood Did to Her Beauty Regime

Lancôme officially welcomed Julia Roberts to the brand last week with an intimate dinner held at the Hôtel de la Monnaie in Paris. Among the guests were Julia’s husband, photographer Mario Testino- who shot Julia’s Lancôme ads, French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld and hairstylist Serge Normant.

“It’s kind of like every girl’s dream, really,” she tells WWD. “To be 42 and have three kids and be a working mom, it’s a great moment to be asked to do this and to be able to do it. I think it says a lot about Lancôme and what they stand for.” As for how she’s approaching her new role, the actress jokes, “I think I have to stand up straighter and wash my face more.”

I am pleased to see this fabulous mom of 3 working with a beauty company that embraces her for her self-proclaimed “causal mom” style, “…it’s quite exciting without having to invest all of myself in how I look because they did come to me as me, which is a pretty casual mom.” Did having children change her beauty regimen like it does for most of us? “It kind of comes to a screeching halt,” she says. “At a certain point in the future, I’ll pick it back up again.

“I think the nice thing about getting older is it forces you in a way to take a greater interest in your [beauty] regime. And so it’s a good moment for me to join forces with people who can help me,” she said, laughing.

I look forward to seeing what’s to come for Julia and Lancôme . How about you? Do you think Lancôme made a good choice for their 2010 global brand ambassador?

Watch for Lancôme’s new mascara, Définicils Precious Cells, featuring Julia in ads that will debut later this year.

Julia is so beautiful – and her smile is just captivating. I’d love to hear more about how she balances work and motherhood.

Julia Roberts is married to Danny Moder, not the Testino guy.

It’s listed who the guests are- Her husband was there AND photographer Mario Testino :) I added a dash instead of a comma to eliminate further confusion. Thanks for pointing that out!
