Jewelry Wear Twisted Silver Style: Forecast Fall/Winter

Jewelry designer, Debra Mitchel from Twisted Silver, offers her predictions for jewelry wear for the next 2 years:

“How to wear” rules change with the fashions- so this is my take on what will be happening in the next few years:

Metal Variety:

Metals in all their varieties are Red Hot! Natural copper, brass, stainless steel, aluminum, etc, are making waves in the fashion world. It is about time! No longer ignored and rejected, watch for them in every trend making line. Pull out grandmas old baubles, and mix them with some of your more current pieces, for a fresh, inspired, eclectic statement. One little rule of thumb- pair delicate with delicate, or bold with bold.

Mixed Metal Trend:

No longer is this taboo- in fact it is encouraged! (I am never a fan of matchy matchy but gold with gold and silver with silver works for your more conservative days) Gold with copper with brass with silver for your every day. Look for pieces that have a mix of metals built in to the design- these will be a great help in pulling in variety- for instance:

This silver/copper/brass piece makes it easy for you to throw on a chunky brass necklace paired with a sturdy silver choker.

Jewelry Stacking Trend:

Multiples of everything are the look right now (but not all at once) Don’t just put on one bracelet- stack’em up! Do you have a stash of bangles? A Now look would be a great wide silver bangle, a variety of slim gold- copper, and brass bangles, paired with a bold wooden bangle. Or any combination you can come up with. On one or even BOTH arms! Stack your necklaces, stack your rings… stack stack away!

Convertible Jewelry Trend:

Great new trend! Look for dual use pieces. You will see it with multi use pieces like we have done here (pic) or you will also see the “convertible” mixed and matched with a variety of different looks- for example Day to Night pieces- Or beach to Ball pieces etc… Another fun way to convert your jewelry to a new look is to take 2 of your favorite beaded or chain necklaces (similar in length) and twist them together into one necklace double strand necklace. You can also buy a necklace extender and hook 2 together to create a new look, or wrap one of your chokers around your wrist twice… or…or…or… oh, the possibilities are endless!

Statement Pieces:

Strong statement pieces are a fashion forward look- vintage military and ancient coin style jewelry are making an impact right now. The nice thing about statement jewelry pieces is that you can define your look using your closet staples. I wear jeans and one of my favorite www.layersclothing.com tees- that I pair with a bold statement piece- This is perhaps one of my most attention getting looks!

Bottom Line:

Basically…Use what you have- Pull it out periodically, look at it, see what creative things you can do with the pieces you own! With fashion right now the sky really is the limit!
