Jane By Design Blogger Challenge #5: From Desk To Drinks

Have you ever left your house at 7 AM, not to return until late into the evening? When you have an active life, you need to plan ahead, be prepared and work with what you have when going from event to event and that includes your outfit and accessories! The latest Jane By Design Blogger Challenge is inspired by busy women like you! In this challenge we were asked to style a basic white button-up shirt for both office and fun! Here are the details:

Take the white shirt out of your trunk and put it on your dress form. Using accessories from your own collection (or anything else you can think of), show how you would style the shirt for a day at the office. Then, change the look entirely and show me how you would style the same shirt for a dressy cocktail party. Post photos of both styles to your blog, and write an entry explaining what you did to create each look.

I opted to create two looks that used the same pieces so you could literally wear the same items to work and transform for after-hour cocktails without having to haul an entirely new look with you. As moms and busy women, we are masters at multi-tasking so why shouldn’t our clothes and accessories be?

Look #1: Office Appropriate

The white shirt is paired with a modern and fun blazer jacket (love the flair at the bottom!), a dark navy skirt and red heels for a pop of color.

I added a chunky gold necklace, keeping the chain short so it shows under the blazer. Gold, weave stud earrings are a perfect compliment to the look.

Subtle gold bracelets and a structured handbag large enough for files, iPad and a makeup bag complete the office look.

Look #2: Ready For After-Hour Fun!

Using the same pieces, I altered the look. First, the blazer was removed and the shirt collar was tucked under to create a sexy, deep V-neck. The sleeves are rolled up for a more relaxed, sexy look.

I lengthened the necklace chain, allowing the necklace to take the spotlight. I added stud earrings to the shoulders of the top, creating a glam military look (perfect for pairing with the navy skirt!).

Adding more bracelets to the three already used in the office look, I now have sufficient bling for the occasion!

Finally, instead of carrying the large tote bag, I used my wallet, which also doubles for a fashion clutch!

Both outfits are paired with fabulous red high heels!
