An Innovative Fragrance Concept: Lisa Hoffman ‘Variations’ Fragrance Collection
By Tammy | October 24, 2009

When I first set eyes on the Lisa Hoffman Variations line of fragrances, I was instantly impressed with the luxe look of the package. Near perfect presentation. A gorgeous yet subdued box embossed with animal skin print, opening to reveal a beautiful leather and suede case that contains four rollerball vials of fragrance.
Here’s the catch- the product contains four vials of the SAME fragrance, modified to be worn specifically at certain times in the day (morning, daytime, evening and bedtime). The thinking is that different variations are more suited to your moods and the activities you’ll be partaking in at certain day parts.
I tried Japanese Agarwood, which is a 2009 Fragrance of the Year Finalist. I pick up soft woody noted accented with charming neroli and an opening wink of citrus. The differences in the morning, daytime and evening variants was pretty subtle for me (while I’d say the morning variant tended toward being citrus, the daytime variant herbal and the evening variant floral), but the bedtime variant was clearly accented with warm and sensual musks and powdery notes. Each of the variants was more than pleasant, understated and sophisticated and I’d gladly wear each one.
The only question is, would I really want to carry fragrances in my bag with me to apply throughout the day? Sadly, the tiny vials only contain .17 oz of fragrance (which leaves me wanting a lot more) but I certainly appreciate that when I’m traveling and not wanting to lug 3.4 oz of fragrance with me.
All and all, I love this products and try to look at them as getting four unique scents for the price of one is a gorgeous package that travels with you and leaves all your friends asking what exclusive stuff is inside. Certainly give Lisa Hoffman’s Variations a try!
