Valentine’s Day is nearly here so I wanted to share a special DIY hairstyle with you! I stopped in at Evans & Co. Salon and had stylist Angela Mupo walk me through a gorgeous Basket Weave Half-Updo. We took pictures to help you recreate this look at home.
Angela shared that hair trends are still calling for loose curls, soft profiles and braids. This style perfectly combines all these trends!
Step 1: Tease crown in 3 sections, using Redken Powder Grip for texture and fullness.
Step 2: Smooth the top of crown and spray with hairspray
Step 3: section by the ear, on each side
Step 4: part each section in half and create 4 small braids. Repeat on other side
Step 5: Pull braids to back of head. Overlap to hide bands. Pin each section.
Step 6: Smooth style as needed, camouflage ends that may be sticking out.
Step 7: Twist remaining front section back toward back of head. Repeat on each side. You may opt to leave hair down near your face for extra softness of the style.
You may need to practice a time or two to get the braids smoothly tucked but once you master this style it will be a new go-to look for you! It’s fun, compliment-inducing and keeps your hair out of your face in such a sexy way!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
