How To Duplicate Kate Hudson’s Blonde Hair Color
By Tammy | June 5, 2009

So many readers are loving Kate Hudson’s hair in the Bride Wars! Her bangs seems to be the bang cut to copy! Recently a reader asked if I could find out how to duplicate Kate’s beautiful blonde color in the movie. Here’s what I found out from celebrity stylist Amanda George of Neil George Salon:
The color looks as though she has a base with heavy highlights making sure to keep contrast in the hair (ie. Surfer blonde as opposed to a more natural blonde). Best way to achieve is to a mixture of foiling and baliage highlights, concentrating the blonde towards the face and frame of the face. Foils give softness, and the baliage gives it more of a pop. Kate has a combination of both in this picture.
So, there you go! Take that to your trusted stylist, along with a picture of Kate, and have a go at being a gorgeous Kate Hudson blonde!
UPDATE: Reader question answered:
Q: In Bride Wars at Kate Hudson’s Wedding, the underside of Kate Hudson’s hair looks reddish. But you can not tell when it is down? Can you please explain how to achieve this as well and what color and how much of her hair is like this?
A: Amanda says, “The underneath of Kate’s hair is a little warmer, probably her colorist did not highlight the underneath but left the base colour alone therefore its slightly warmer and you don’t see that when her hair is down, but when its swept up those warmer tones give it contrast.”
This is called a half-weave when you leave the bottom third (or so) untouched with highlights. It saves you time in the salon and money. It’s a great option if you don’t wear your hair up a lot. I even like it if you do wear your hair up- it’s a pretty contrast.
This is the best picture I could find of the contrasting hair color:
