Struggling with gray hair since I was in my twenties has been difficult at times, especially when others that are in their forties point them out. I made a promise to myself a long time ago that I was not going to be once of those women who was fake in every single way. I wanted to stay true to who I was and the beautiful way in which God intended me to be.
However, after I had my son at age 34 I gained a lot of weight and my gray hair was horrible. I decided to enter a local makeover competition and actually won. Upon winning I was fully pampered and one of the amenities that I enjoyed was having my hair colored. I couldn’t believe me eyes… my gray was gone and I looked young again. Unfortunately, getting my hair colored on a regular basis is not in our budget.
When I received the opportunity to try out L’Oreal Excellence Crème with Pro-Keratin I was excited. I could touch up these grays that just don’t seem to want to go away.
I choose the Medium Chestnut Brown because it was the closest to my true color. This was my first experience with doing a color at home and I was surprised how easy it was. I had to use a pretreatment and then the color went on.
Once my half hour was up, I stepped in the shower to rinse out, I have to admit I was a bit nervous. I used the conditioner that came with the package and I was amazed at how soft my hair was. As I stepped out of the shower, I pulled the towel off my head and I didn’t notice much a difference. I blow dried my hair and that is when I was excited.
This experience has been wonderful and I may skip being natural on my hair color and continue to cover up my gray hair. My husband said I looked beautiful and he hasn’t said that too often lately, so this mom is excited and I may have found my new color!
