Picture Perfect Skin with HD Makeup from Makeup Forever

“Thanks to the fabulous Tammy from A MOM IN RED HIGH HEELS, I was able to attend a free mini makeover session at Sephora. The two Express Services I got to enjoy were the smoky eye and the high-definition makeup mini-makeovers. The smoky eye was pretty neat – don’t get me wrong – but what really got my attention was the high-definition makeup mini-makeover. Not only did the very nice Sephora aesthetician make my skin look smooth, but also flawless and pore-free. I am not someone blessed with flawless skin AT ALL so this dramatic transformation did not go unnoticed. As in, I saw myself in the mirror and I exclaimed “I NEED THIS RIGHT NOW!”
Luckily, because we were in a Sephora, I was able to take home all the necessary “tools of the trade” to help me achieve this effect at home. And here are the components!
- HD MICROPERFECTING PRIMER :this nourishes the skin and helps you achieve the perfect base to build on. I got the white shade of the primer. You apply a small amount (about the size of a button) on your fingertips, smooth over face, and let it dry while you get out…
- HD INVISIBLE COVER FOUNDATION: A nifty trick the Sephora aesthetician showed me: pump out two small samples of the foundation onto the back of your hand so that it warms up to body temperature, then apply with a foundation brush. This way you use far less product, making it last an extremely long time, as well as helping the foundation go on more smoothly.
- HD INVISIBLE COVER CONCEALER The magical concealer goes on under the eyes, at the sides of the nose, or anywhere you’d like to brighten and perfect! It features a silicone tip that allows you to smooth on the concealer directly from the dispenser. Hard to explain, but very cool.
and finally…
- HD MICROFINISH POWDER TO GO: this is the amazing piece de resistance that sets all the makeup in place! It’s made out of hyperfine silica powder and adds the flawless effect that helps to make HD makeup look as great as it does.
I also purchased the Sephora Brand Double-Ended Perfect Complexion Brush - you can apply the foundation brush with one end, and the microfinish powder with the other. Another nifty tip from the lovely Sephora lady: clean the brush with alcohol wipes!
I would highly recommend purchasing the entire system of HD products by Makeup Forever. Although they’re pricey, you definitely get an amazing product that has helped me feel much more polished and put-together!”
High Definition Makeup “How-To” from Sephora:
- PRIME: Using your fingers, smooth HD primer over skin to smooth and perfect.
- BUFF: With a short rounded brush, apply HD liquic foundation using sweeping circular motions.
- CONCEAL: Apply HD concealer iwth an eye shadow brush to camouflage areas that need it most- blemishes, brown spots, dark circles and scars.
- SET: Coat your brush with HD translucent powder, tap off the excess and using the tips of th bristles, lightly press and roll the powder onto skin for an airbrushed finish.
Editor’s Note: I also had the HD makeup done when I went to the Sephora Express Makeover counter. One important piece of information I learned was that when you use makeup containing SPF, the titanium dioxide used in SPF will reflect off your face when you are having your picture taken. For holiday portraits, go with the HD for undetectable makeup!

WOW!! You must have been reading my mind. I love Sephora too, and love their HD invisible foundation and concealer. I love the photo you shared here, and it just reminded me that I really need to get out there and RE-stock up again.

Thank you so much for all of the information Victoria. I have’t been able to find a foundation that I really LOVE…so off to Sephora I go to check out the Makeup Forever HD collection.
