We’ve talked in the past about the skinny jean trend. I’ve pretty much decided I won’t partake in this trend, leave it for my 21 year-old step-daughter and her friends! I mean, skinny jeans on a 36 year-old? Not this one!
However, I’m reconsidering a new kind of “skinny” jean (the kind that makes me look skinny, not the kind that is skinny)….Reader Jenn emailed me to ask if I knew anything about Hello! SkinnyJeans®. I don’t, so I looked them up and found them to be quite promising. Read what about the design process of these jeans! ( from Hello! SkinnyJeans website)
“… desperate for a pair of super-slimming blue jeans, decided to do something about it! So we started SkinnyJeans® and tackled every possible way to make blue jeans more slimming and flattering:
First, SkinnyJeans® are made from classic denim but with a high nylon/elastane content. This gives them a ‘beefy’ strength to hold you in (no wimpy, gummy stretch here) and creates ‘Memory’—the jeans never stretch out, bag out or lose their shape. (You will not have to wash them every time you wear them.)
Second, the thighs are very ‘scooped’ out which drastically separates and slims the thighs and pushes the butt out creating a shapely silhouette.
Third, the inseams are drawn forward on the leg making it appear that there is less ‘real estate’ on the front of the leg.
Fourth, the non-stretch cotton pocketing is sewn through from seam to seam so it acts as a restraint holding the entire stomach area in.
Fifth, the fading and shading pattern on the jeans creates an optical illusion front and back that slims the leg. The inside and outside seams are darkened. The sides of the hips are darker so the hips appear narrower. The buttocks are faded slightly but darker on the hip seams and at the top of the thighs creating ‘shape’ and making the back of the legs look slimmer. The front of the leg is slightly faded down the middle making the leg appear longer. Additionally, we incorporate barely-visible whiskering above the natural leg break to make the leg appear longer.
Sixth, SkinnyJeans® come in a barely-boot cut and straight leg; these styles balance the shape of the leg making your thighs appear as slim as possible.
Seventh, the size, shape and placement of the pockets are solely to make the butt appear smaller and shapelier. There is no’ junk’ on the pockets; no designs that make the butt appear droopy or wide, or placement of the pocket so low on the thigh that it shortens the leg; no advertising for the designer and no flashing of price tags.
Eighth, SkinnyJeans® have a medium rise with contoured stretch waistband. No cleavage, no previously non-existent potbelly!
Finally, the high-waters have receded — SkinnyJeans® come in inseams to 37”!! And because the design is so successfully slimming, we make SkinnyJeans® in sizes 24-32 and 34, 36, and 38.”
Do these not sound like a grown woman’s best friend?? Nine steps to ensure these jeans are thigh slimming, stomach flattening, buttock-shaping, leg-lengthening, stretch blue jean perfect! If that is not enough, apparently Rachel Ray is a huge fan on the jeans and wears them frequently on her show!

The testimonials are pretty strong too!

I feel confident and beautiful when I wear my Skinny Jeans. It’s always better to look your best. They make a gap in-between my legs that immediately make anyone look 5 lbs lighter. Also, the high waist is fabulous tummy control. The materials all stretch, hold, and sculpt the perfect figure. I wear them more than the expensive designer jeans I own!

After seeing ‘skinny jeans’ highlighted on The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch – I just KNEW I HAD to have them; that they WERE – without a doubt what I have been searching for, for the last couple of years…. Being an ‘average’ sized woman (size 34) it is sometimes difficult to find jeans that not only fit and complement my body – but ones that are comfortable – these jeans seem to be made for real women who want to look incredible! Thank you skinny jeans – for making a pair of jeans that I look and feel great in – NOW – how about starting a line of bras?
Just so you know, I am not affiliated with Hello! SkinnyJeans…wish I was because that woman is going to bring in some serious cash!…but I am so excited to have been introduced to these jeans (thanks Jenn!) and I know that I must buy them! I’ll have to save for them, they cost $178, but I think it’ll be worth it! Too be sure, I’ll track down my nearest retailer and try them on.
Now, if you have tried Hello! SkinnyJeans®, you absolutely MUST leave a comment and tell me about them as I can’t seem to track down anyone who has actually tried them! If you have not tried them, what do you think? Willing to give them a shot?

Thanks for introducing me! I’m definitely going to check out the Hello! SkinnyJeans site. What a great concept (especially for moms)…
They sounds great. Now if I could only look like that!
I have never even heard of them until now…But after those pictures, I’d love to give them try!
Cool post…I hadn’t heard of these either, and they’re aren’t any retailers that carry them in Virginia. Let us know if you end up getting a pair and if you like them. I was planning on saving up for a pair of Hudson’s (which are in the same price range).
Hey, check out Skinny Songs! Great motivational music to “get back into those skinny jeans!”

Thanks for checking them out – they looked great to me – now to find a retailer close to me that carries them!
It takes a looooong time to get them straight from the company. I ordered mine on Jan 23rd and half the order came today. They are horrible with communication, btw. Anyhow, I just tried the jeans on and they look fabulous from the front….but the back–blech. I’m 5’9 and 125 lbs, but unless I stick my rear out far (like the girls in the pics above), I get these two lines on the back of my thighs that are really unflattering. Look for a pair of 27/34s on eBay. I’m too afraid I’ll never see a refund if I return them to the company.
Hi,
i work for skinnyjeans. We try to fit anyone but there are some people that we cant get a good fit for. We will happily refund your money…just email us or call us
Good luck if you have a return or exchange. From personal experience – it’s been one month since I returned mine and I have had no luck getting my refund. They have a history of complaints with the Better Business Bureau; check out their BBB history before you decide to hand over your $200.00:
http://search.newyork.bbb.org/reports.aspx?pid=44&page=1&id=87986
These jeans are horrible and so is the company! They take your money and lose your order. If you’re one of the few who happen to actually receive your shipment, you will be very disappointed in the way they fit. UGLY. Lines in the back of the knees are just not attractive. They accentuate the fat. Don’t risk ordering if you’re under the impression you’ll actually get your money back if you’re dissatisfied. Definitely check out the BBB on this one!!!
They’re NEARLY perfect. They make you look maybe 10 pounds slimmer, and really do squeeze your thighs and butt to make them look smaller. They’re also very comfortable b/c they stretch with you. However, as others have mentioned, they create creases across the backs of the thighs unless you bend over and poke your butt out. Heh, I thought it was just me and my shape, but it sounds like this happens to others, too. This isn’t as noticeable in the darker washes, though.
BE CAREFUL buying directly from them, though. I am warning you now. I lost $190 or so! I placed an order through their website and they NEVER SENT MY JEANS! I waited for about 6 months and they kept telling me they would deliver them. After waiting, I tried to contact them for another 6 months and gave up. They never returned my calls or emails. Actually, let me correct myself. They did return one of my emails…..when I emailed them and pretending to be interested in buying a pair of jeans (in an attempt to see if anyone was checking their email)….that’s when they did respond. Then, when I tried to get them to talk to me about refunding my money….ZERO RESPONSE.
So, if you do buy these jeans, I suggest buying them through a retailer. Otherwise, they’re crooks.
Oh, I forgot to mention in my post above that I bought mine from Bliss.
HORRIBLE Communication. Sent numerous emails about getting a refund after my order was super late… they just ignore you. Still waiting on my refund.. called again today. We shall see. I would DEF look elsewhere. Completely unprofessional
If you’ve got nothing better to do with $200 but throw it down the trash, then by all means go ahead and send it to this company. I’m sure the owner is laughing all the way to the bank with all the money being sent to her and she doesn’t even have to deliver on a product. Hey at least you’ll be making her rich instead of throwing your money out in the trash.
I ordered mine on August 7th, 2008 and sent 3 email inquiries that were responded to with, “Two more weeks”. On October 8th I received a form email that said that any orders more than a month old needed to resubmit their credit card info (it expires after 30 days for fraud protection, apparently) and they’d receive their jeans in approximately 2 weeks.
The company seems to have a fluid definition of “2 weeks”, since I’ve now been waiting 2 months for my jeans. I’m calling it a wash. Since I wasn’t ever charged for the jeans I’m going to forget them. I’ll stick with The Buckle’s BKE jeans.
Do NOT order from their website. Three months after placing my order and paying with paypal and even receiving an empty tracking number from them, I filed a complaint with paypal to get my money back. I received an email telling me they didn’t want my business and telling me they’d issue an immediate refund. Ha! I am still waiting and I’m sure the only way I will ever get my money back is from the claim I filed.
Anyone order them from one of the retail stores/sites? I think someone mentioned Bliss? How was the service then?
So, I bought a pair from lechicshop.com. Great service, quick shipping, and I love the jeans. I have short legs and saddlebags, and these really improved the situation. Although do note that lechicshop doesn’t list the inseam length… I ended up with a 37 inch inseam, but that’s fine, cuz I can hem it easily.
DON’T BUY DIRECT FROM THEM – you’ll never see the jeans – I’m still waiting for my money back – and have asked for help from the BBB – I ordered in September and all I got was emails saying that they weren’t in stock but they wouldn’t refund my $$$ – its now DEC and I have NOTHING still no refund – so hopefully the BBB can help me – but please if you don’t want to be messed around – don’t buy from them all you end up with is a big bill and NO jeans
I purchased jeans directly from their website in January 2009 and had no problems whatsoever as far as communication. Actually, the communication was excellent as far as quickly responding to emails and the shipping time. The jeans fit fantastic, although they are expensive and way more $$ than I’ve ever spent on jeans in my life. But they also fit better than any I’ve ever had.
DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY! DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY!!
I purchased the jeans in early September of 2008. I am rather tall, so I purchased them in long length. I emailed the company 4 times from the month of November through the end of December trying to figure out where my jeans were! Finally received them the end of December. I tried them on once, in my bedroom – they were wayyyy too long. I packaged them up, sent them back the first week of January. Mid-February – still no refund. I contacted them, and they said they are behind on refunds, but they have it processed and my refund should be on my next credit card statement. WRONG! No refund. I contacted them again! They said “the jeans were dirty when they were sent back, first time we ever had jeans sent back dirty!”. WRONG! I couldn’t have possibly worn them, they were in the exact condition as when I purchased them. PLUS they already said they were processed for refund weeks before! WHAT A HORRIBLE COMPANY! HORRIBLE! Needless to say I am disputing with my credit card company, and they will go after them. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM!
Besides, JCrew jeans are a much more flattering fit….these jeans are not all they measured up to be, from what I could tell (not the right fit for me!).
I recently ordered a pair of jeans from Hello! and I must say that at first I was hesitant based on a lot of negative things I have read regarding customer service, but I was extremely pleased with the transaction! I emailed them and was quickly emailed back, and I received my jeans about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks after ordering. I typically wear a 31 or 32 in expensive designer jeans but I had read these ran kind of big so I ordered a 30 and they fit perfect. I don’t have really big thighs or a big rear end but I do have a thick waist. I ordered night wash and have not washed them yet but they are very dark, I am hoping they will lighten just a little when washed. I am so happy witht them that I want they day wash also! My advice: don’t be frightened by the idea of bad customer service, try these jeans they are very nice!
the company has horrible customer service. after purchasing online the company would not let me return, sent me a very rude and condescending note when they returned the jeans i tried to return, and then the owner of the company insulted me by asking me what i had been doing on my knees when i challenged their return policy.
the jeans are fine but not spectatular. and the customer service was so horrible i wouldn’t recomend them to anyone unless i hated them.
I had the opposite experience with the company. I found the delivery to be immediate and I liked the jeans so much I ordered another pair which also came within 2 weeks. Don’t be afraid to order from this company. There was immediate delivery and the fit of the jeans was amazing…..
I ordered my jeans March 09 and altho most of the people on this website said they had problems, mine was delivered within 10 days. The company must have gotten its act together because I had no trouble at all. The customer service was very helpful (in fact I spoke to the owner herself) and she helped me figure out the exact size and color I should pick. I thought the jeans themselves fit well and I love the stretch of the fabric. I would definitly order another pair from this company….
Readers, please note that this post was originally posted in February 2008. The owner has explained to me that her company grew so rapidly, it was difficult to keep up with the demand. I can certainly see how this could happen. I hope to have an interview with her and give you an update.
As recent as a month ago, I was told by a mom in Germany that she had great customer service and received her jeans in 10 days.
“Everyone makes mistakes, everyone has those days”, let’s wait and see what the company has to say.
I am confused on how to size these jeans. I thought I had it figured out but after reading all the comments I would like a more accurate way to determine the size conversion.
Hi Theresa,
I’m sorry I won’t be of help in this area as I have not actually tried the jeans myself. Here is the sizing chart that compares to other brands. It would be helpful if you have worn any of the brands listed, but not so much if you haven’t: http://www.skinnyjeans.com/html/sizing.html
I’d recommend you call them and ask for help, I’ve heard customer service has improved: TOLL-FREE 1.866.946.8348 or email orders@skinnyjeans.com
Good Luck! This video may be helpful: http://berlinhairbabyblog.blogspot.com/2009/09/my-review-of-hello-skinnyjeans.html
After a lot of Googling to read reviews of these jeans, I found a local store that carries them. Got mine yesterday. They are very flattering, and they do open up that ugly space between the upper thighs. I also have a hard time finding jeans that are long enough; the 35s are perfect!
The before and after shots on the Hello! site are quite accurate.
As other commenters have said, the customer service is now outstanding. I called the store first to make sure they had my size. They didn’t but ordered them in. When it took a bit longer to receive them (two weeks instead of one), she called and offered me a $40 discount if I liked them! Holy cow.
–Another satisfied customer
I ordered the jeans from the website itself and got the jeans right away. it maybe took a 7-10 days tops!!! the jeans fit me greatt too and the cut and wash are classic! i didnt really have any trouble with customer service either so overall my experience with this company was fine.
The best jeans ever. I have a pair for flats and one for heels. The first time I wore them my husband said I lost weight!! Buy these. My experience buying from the co. was great.
Do not order these jeans from the web-site. If you purchase – go to storefront where you can buy and easily return. Look at BBB reviews. I am still waiting for refund from purchase. I’ve only waited about 60 days. From the posts I’ve read sounds like – if I am VERY persistent, I only have about 60 more days to wait.
About the worse customer service I have ever encountered. Buyer Beware!
