The Hunger Games movie was huge success and is rumored to have one of the most popular costumes for Halloween this year- Effie Trinket (can you believe that is Elizabeth Banks?).  Enjoy these tips to help you re-create this look at home or at the salon- depending on how committed you really are.

At home:

A quick commitment free way to add pastel or bright colors is to use chalk (yes, basic chalk)!  If your kids don’t have some for you to borrow, art stores have inexpensive palettes of a variety of colors. Dampen the chalk and rub on strands of hair. Temporary but fun- shampoo hair and it’s gone. You want to first style the hair- with a curling iron or rollers curl the hair and spray using Joico’ s JoiMist Firm Finishing Spray all over the head and then you want to tease the hair in all directions until you create a lot of volume. From there you want to bobby pin into the hair and long strands to blend in and then with the chalk go over as much hair and lightly rub on strands of hair.

In salon:

Joico Vero K-Kak Color Intensity is a great in salon option. These vibrant trend driven colors are fun but there is a commitment involved. While this service will provide damage free amazing results, Semi permanent dyes take a couple more washes to come off the hair. Copy the picture above and ask for the same style. Find a salon near you.
