Always a fan of Jennifer Aniston’s hair, I’ve now got more reason to love it…it can save me time and money! Daily Makeover reports on haircuts that save time and money and Jen’s much loved style is one that is recommended:
We love a trendy hairstyle as much as the next girl, but a lot of those cool ‘dos you see on your fave celebs can be both expensive and time-consuming to maintain (extensions anyone?). The good news is, there’s no need to spend every other week (and all your money) at the hair salon. According to Suave Professional Hairstylist Jenny Cho, there are plenty of fabulous styles to chose from that not only extend your time between salon visits, they also save you styling time. Read on for her favorite money-saving haircuts and time-saving styling tips.

For curly hair or unruly texture:
Ask your stylist for collar bone length or chest length cut with mid or long layers. Curly hair can hold a length for a longer period since hair doesn’t grow straight down, cutting your visits to the salon down to just 3 or 4 times a year.
To save time, try not to fight nature and just let your hair air dry or diffuse dry with either some styling cream, leave-in conditioner, frizz control serum or curl boosting cream. Unruly hair texture might need a little more attention. For this hair type, I recommend a really good hair dryer and a good round brush. Using the same products above or a sleek cream or straight balm, depending on the type of style you want to achieve. Wash hair the night before and blow dry half way so still some moisture in the hair, letting the rest air dry overnight. The next morning, use 1 1/2 to 2-inch curing iron, sectioning hair in to four major sections–front to back and ear to ear. Spray on a heat styling spray and curl sections away from the face and under in the back to get perfectly smooth waves. Turn head upside down and break up the curls using your fingers, then flip it back over and spritz with hairspray to lock in place. If you’d like a sleeker look, a flat iron can be used with the instructions above in place of the curling iron.

For straight or wavy hair:
Ask your stylist for a shoulder to collarbone-length bob with mid-length layers. This haircut will save you money because you only need to visit the salon four times a year due to minimal styling requirements.
If you like your natural texture, let your hair air dry or dry hair the night before, which will save you time in the morning. If you like more polished hair, try using a professional-quality blow dryer with a paddle brush. Blow dry with fingers and, when half dried, separate hair into four sections (front to nape and ear to ear). Always face the blow dryer slightly above the brush–never direct it straight down into the hair.
Keep in mind that if you add more heat to your styling routine, you should always protect your hair with heat protection spray, a good shampoo and conditioner and weekly treatments. My pick for keeping hair healthy is Suave Professionals’ new nature-inspired Shampoo and Conditioner duos (Almond & Shea Butter, Rosemary Mint and Aloe & Ginseng). All three duos are deliciously scented and infused with natural ingredients, that moisturize, invigorate or volumize hair as well as a leading high-end brand.
With these haircuts you can also save styling time by skipping a day of washing and styling. Hair powder* is a great way to get that just-out-of-the-shower fresh smell and it adds instant body back to the hair.

You mention using hair powder between washings, which is a great concept for busy moms. Any suggestions on one to use? I’ve tried Oscar Blandi and KMS, but I didn’t have very good results with either one.
