I’m super excited for tomorrow! I’m going to one of the hottest celebrity salons in Beverly Hills, The Neil George Salon! I have an appointment with Amanda George for highlights and Neil Weisberg for a cut and blow dry! I’m leaving LA one pretty mama tomorrow! Hello?! They help Heidi Klum look fabulous, and a long list of other celebrities, I’d think they can help me look my beautiful best!
Joining me for a while at the salon is Nadine of JolieNadine.com fame. She actually has an appointment with Amanda right after I do! I’m excited to see her since we haven’t met up since Paris!
I’ve decided to take a very experimental approach to this appointment. I think it’s important for a mom (or any woman) to have a signature look that she feels good wearing. Updating with bangs, varying the length from time to time, going from dark blonde to beachy blonde with the seasons is all part of keeping your style current. But at the core of your soul, you know what look is a keeper for you. I’m on a journey of self-discovery to determine my signature style.
I think I’m getting close with the style…as my hair grows longer…but it’s not exactly the look I’m going for. I feel like a part of my personality is missing. It’s complicated…
My color is never right in my opinion. When I’m blonde, it’s tends to be too golden as I have natural reds in my hair, which leads to the dreaded brassy tone! When I’m dark, I feel too serious and it surprises me when I look into a mirror as in my heart I am blonde! (though I really wish I could pull of a dark color the way my beautiful step-daughter does! She looks absolutely stunning with dark hair. She’s also a beautiful blonde!) I continue to search for my signature tone.
So tomorrow, I am going into a celebrity salon, meeting with stylists that know nothing about me and hoping to come out as the best me possible! I will be armed with an entire lookbook that I’ve put together, including hair cuts, colors and fashion styles that inspire me.
I plan on picking their brains to learn what things a woman should know when seeking her signature look. In my world, bringing in a picture has never worked, especially with color. I seem to interpret the color differently than the stylist does and I walk out with a color that I feel isn’t even close to the caramel highlights I envisioned wearing. Maybe it’s miscommunication. Maybe my interpretation is off. Maybe I expect too much. I’m determined to find out.
In the end, I hope to share with you some fantastic tips for getting the hair cut and hair color that really reflects your personality. Wish me luck! I’ll be updating on Twitter all day and will post pictures within a day or two! xoxo!
