It’s the biggest complaint regarding foundation: “I can’t find the right color for my skin tone“! No one wants to walk around with an obvious jawline stripe where the makeup ends. (FYI, you should be blending below the jawline but that is for another day…) So, how do you find what shade works for you?
Take the guess work out of matching your foundation to your skin tone by using L’Oreal True Match foundation. According to the professional help on L’Oreal’s website, you should first determine your skin tone. They tell us there are 7 possible tones:
- fair
- fair light
- light
- light medium
- medium
- medium deep
- deep
To determine your tone, look at the skin near the jaw line that is less pigmented than the rest of your face. Next, determine your undertone, then make your match!

Once you determine your foundation shade, you will also know your powder shade to use as well! Foundation and powder are available in 24 shades!

If you are currently using another brand and know it’s shade, try the Beauty Matchmaker! Simply select your current brand, product and shade and the Beauty Matchmaker will tell you which True Match shade is right for you!

I found my shade to be Natural Beige and it blends beautifully with my skin tone. It has an SPF of 17, which makes it a great multi-task product. This foundation gives a sheer coverage, which is perfect for everyday wear.
When I was chatting with the Sephora product consultant while getting my Express Makeover, we discussed the foundations that we love. She told me she loves L’Oreal True Match! Of all the products she can get for a discount at Sephora, she chooses L’Oreal True Match! I think that is a pretty strong testimony!
