GlamourGals Celebrates 10 Years of Makeovers

GlamourGals is an innovative not-for-profit that focuses on empowering teen girls and bridging the gap between generations. The organization encourages young women to organize makeovers in senior homes in order to provide the residents with a much needed visit and lift their spirits. How much fun is that?! I love the concept of this organization!

With almost 40 chapters across the country, each chapter of GlamourGals commits to performing one or two makeovers per month at senior homes in their area, and GlamourGals’ national chapters supply all the makeup free of charge. Many volunteers continue their work beyond high school, starting chapters at their university. GlamourGals makeovers form a memorable connection and create positive feelings between both the younger and older women involved, bridging the gap between generations.

This month, GlamourGals is celebrating its 10th anniversary and you are invited to join in the celebration!

Join hosts: Nadine Loren, Tiffany Brown, Lauren Berger, Laurel Kaufman, Kim Taylor, Roxanne Rubell, and Jennifer Cassetta. This event is one of many they hope to host around the country to benefit the program and celebrate ten years of service!

$50 - Recognize a Volunteer! This registration allows you to sponsor one volunteer to attend the Glammy Awards. You will receive a handwritten thank you note from the volunteer that you sponsor.

$100 - Recognize GG Leadership!  This registration will allow you to sponsor the three leaders of a Chapter (Chapter President, Co-President, and Rally Girl) to attend the Glammy Awards. Your sponsorship will be posted on GG’s blog, “Making a Fashionable Change,” shared on Facebook, twitter and linked in. Your name will be added to the 2010 “Recognizing and Celebrating” page on GlamourGals.org.

GlamourGals was founded in 2000 by Rachel Doyle in Commack, N.Y., Rachel was 17 when, inspired by her grandmother Teeny, she formed GlamourGals. Since 2000, the GlamourGals team has expanded beyond the three volunteers to include Julia Porter, the Director of Program Expansion, as well as six GlamourGals national correspondents. They inspire and organize their volunteers through their Hot Pink Leadership programming. The program includes events, conference calls and their virtual community, GGChapters.org, which is a platform for aspiring volunteers to start their own local chapters, as well as an online meeting space for volunteers across the country, and a calendar of events.
