Fuss-Free Hot Weather Hair

Temperatures are rising as is the humidity for many parts of the country, your kids will be home for summer vacation soon and your summer activities will require quick, fuss-free hairstyles! While it’s easy to throw your hair in quick ponytail, it’s also easy to create effortless style with these recommendations from the stylists at the Neil George Salon in Beverly Hills:

Alissa Tietgen :

My absolute favorite summer ‘do is a top knot bun, a la Jane Birkin(shown above). It shouldn’t be perfect at all. Flip your head over, pull to top of your crown and pull through a rubber band into a messy bun. No product necessary! Works the best on dirty (or even sweaty) hair.

Eleazar Baltazar:

A great hot weather hairstyle is a loose tousled bun pulled low. If you keep it soft and sweepy, it’s perfect to get the hair out of your face, but still looks great. You don’t want to try to hard with it, the beauty of this hairstyle is that it should be somewhat effortless. A great surf spray or beach creme makes a great texture for the hair before you pull it back.

Gaetano Romeo:

A high Barbie-esque ponytail is always chic and hot weather friendly! It’s appropriate for being casual, but also can look lovely and polished if need be. Make sure sides of hair are nice and smooth when you pull the hair back, and always cover the rubber band with a piece of your own hair wrapped around and then bobby pinned underneath. A great smoothing tool is a TINY bit of tancho wax, spread over the hands and then over the hair as you pull it back.

  1. I tell ya, the rut of a ponytail is a hard one to break. Not to mention that I feel like I took all this time growing my hair out again only to wear it up all the time! But I’m going to try these suggestions :)

  2. alissa is a genius! she’s the only gal who I’ll let touch my hair. she knows her stuff and is confidently creative…shes one of those “always-worth-it luxuries” in Los Angeles!

I am a big fan of the ponytail- even if it’s not very glamorous! If your color and hightlights look good for summer, that it seems to make any up-do “pop”…
