As a busy mom with way too much on her plate, I’ve come to appreciate the fine art of online shopping. Why is it such an art? First, there are sooooo many choices of websites to shop. Then, there is the matter of buying something you don’t love and having to spend the time shipping it back. Seems like a minor thing but when you can barely squeeze in the time for a shower, a trip to the post office is major. By the time I get there, I’m sometimes risking missing the window of return for credit!
The Art of Shopping Online
- Learn which websites offer great service and quality clothing. Read reviews, ask friends, trial and error. (I know a few I won’t use again!)
- Watch for sales. Signing up for newsletters of boutiques you love is absolutely essential. Essential. Not only are you the first to hear about sales, you often receive Friends & Family discounts that others are not privy to.
- Follow on Social Media. Often, brands will offer exclusive discounts or giveaways on Twitter or Facebook. Pay attention and you can cash in on some great offers (discounts on a sale anyone?)
One such site I stalk is Free People. They are having a fantastic sale right now. Generally, their pieces are more expensive than I’ll pay but when on sale, I’ll splurge for the brand.
These are the pieces I especially love from the sale selection. To splurge on just one, I’d get the Tinku Bead Necklace. Isn’t it stunning?
The good thing about Free People is they have a generous return policy: Free People will gladly accept unworn, unwashed or defective merchandise for return or exchange within 30 days from the shipping date. Simply, follow the directions on the back ofthe packing slip to return merchandise for credit. They include a pre-paid shipping label for returns so I don’t have to make a trip to USPS, haul my kids out and wait in line. I can just drive through and drop it in the appropriate drop box or give it to my postal carrier. Love that kind of service!
