It’s that time of year when everyone wants to get into shape! Do you have goals to get into shape, get lean for swimsuit season, or lose the final 10 pounds? The New Year is known for the resolutions and goals to get healthy, get fit but with so many options, it can be hard to know where to start!
Myself? I’m getting a bike and getting back on the road with my husband this year. I used to race and had a random thought about missing it. I mentioned it to him and he jumped on it and started shopping for a bike for me. Guess I’m committed now!!

I asked the Daily Makeover Beauty Bloggerati to share with us how they’ll be working out in 2010. Getting us motivated to get fit, here is what they said:
I love to run — I’m addicted to the endorphins. When I don’t have time to do a three mile jog I’ll pop in a fitness DVD, like Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred (LOVE THIS!) (Karen, Makeup and Beauty Blog)

My favorite way to work out is just straight up cardio. I’m a huge fan of the elliptical (the one w/o the arms) and the stair master. My arms have always been a problem for me so I throw in weights as well on the days I’m not doing cardio. (Lisa, These Lips are Made for Glossin‘)
I definitely like to mix it up–yoga, weights, Pilate, power walks, cycling. It keeps working out from getting boring! (Anne, The Jet Set Girls)
I’m lacing up my sneakers and heading back to running. My knees are not what they used to be after a few marathons, but I’m training for an 8K in March. I’ve also scheduled 2 yoga retreats this year to enhance my practice, which will also enhance my running. (Julia, All About the Pretty)
I tried Physique 57 and LOVED it! But, I don’t love the $30 per class price tag, so I’m investing in the DVD to do at home.(Amber, Beauty Blogging Junkie)
I have an aversion to exercise, so I like to trick myself into getting in shape…like taking a dance class. I love to dance, so it’s fun for me – it’s not like work. Classes like that are even more fun when you bring a friend. I also hate sweating, so swimming is another great workout for me, though swimming too often really ruins my hair. I also keep my DVD collection stocked with exercise videos; they’re great when the weather is bad or you’re too lazy to go anywhere. When I do go to the gym, I stick to the treadmill or bike. I listen to my iPod or read a magazine and zone out for a half hour. (Daneen, Spoiled Pretty)

I haven’t seen the inside of a gym in a LONG time but I have started using my Wii more now. I got EA Active and Wii Fit Plus recently and when I use them, I actually enjoy it. (Carla, Product Girl)
As a former fitness instructor, dance teacher and personal trainer, I used to have intense, rigid workout regimens. But, after the birth of my second daughter, I’ve had a lot of health problems that have literally made me unable to exercise to this degree (doctors orders!). Instead, I’ve really had to embrace fitting exercise into my daily life… doing counter-top push-ups while food is cooking, doing chest lifts holding the baby, or dancing around with my toddler. Life as a mom is very active, so I just make sure to keep moving, eat healthfully and take care of my body. And when in doubt? I love doing any kind of ballet toning moves while watching TV… they burn like crazy! (Bailey, Makeover Momma)

Really?! You want to get back into cycling, really?!?!? Did you see my new prize on Christmas day? I got myself a nice around the town kind of bike- very stylish. You’d approve. We should bike the kids to Olives this summer for a snack.
As for getting fit, I’m all over Cross Fit!
Yes, I will get a road bike, already have the fun town bike. Looking at a sleek red and black (To match A Mom in Red High Heels) Cannondale tomorrow!
I’m actually hoping to do my first triathlon this year, albeit a mini one. I need to get back to the gym more, but my biggest “get fit” goal is to drink more water!
I have that goal every year…I’m still working on it! Wonder why it’s so hard to do??
Yay, thanks for the links. I will do the usual and do more yoga.
Great workout advice. I dont know how many times I’ve told my friends the very same things. I’m glad I’m not the only one now.
