I adore the look of blunt bangs. They bring out the eyes and hide those nasty furrow lines I’ve developed. I’ve been wearing blunt bangs for about 2 years now and am happy to see them showing up all over the runways at Fashion Week. In her latest edition of How Not To Look Old, Charla Krupp suggests that “once you reach a certain age, you look better with bangs. Almost everybody does.” If you are at a “certain age” consider bangs! If you are a younger mom and fear that bangs will make you look too young (oh, I wish I had that problem again!), you’ll want to try the latest styles on display at Fashion Week: Mod Squad Inspired Bangs! Megan McIntyre, Associate Editor at Daily Makeover, shows us who wore it best in New York this month:
It was a mod, mod world backstage at Fall 2010 Fashion Week. From Erin Fetherston to Cynthia Steffe, the look for hair was all about thick, blunt-cut bangs that harkened back to the mod squad models of the late 1960′s and early 1970′s. Here, some of our favorite versions of the look. Consider yourself warned: The bang is back and it’s bigger (and blunter) than ever.
At Cynthia Steffe, Bumble and bumble lead stylist Rolando Beauchamp gave models a clip-on faux bang to help embody the late 1960′s cool British/French girl inspiration. “We’re doing a really thick fringe, but the texture on the hair is dirty, like two-day old hair,” he said. The slept in texture added to the cool girl feel, giving models a messy-sexy hairstyle that was retro without being too literal.
Models at Erin Fetherston continued on the “retro yet modern” vibe with long straight hair and shiny bangs. Stylist Odile Gilbert for Moroccanoil wanted the girls to look sweet but with a little bit of a rock ‘n roll edge, and, of course, very downtown. Try this look on now in the Makeover Studio!
Elsewhere at shows like Staerk (shown at left) and L.A.M.B., we saw models rocking super-shiny strands that complemented their equally shiny and slightly rounded bangs. The effect there was a bit more 1930′s starlet, but the blunt bangs were just as cool and on-trend.
I love the rocker-chic look of the Erin Fetherston show. It’s a very wearable, soft and sexy bang style that will compliment many face shapes and personalities! Do you like a full blunt bang? If so, which style shown here do you like?

I love bangs….They definitely make one look younger!!
Love them, too! I actually have them now but they’ve grown a bit long and since it’s always hot where I am, they’ve become a bit of a liability.
