Can Fashion Help Us Recover from Economic Gloom?

A Look at Spring 2009
A Look at Spring 2009 – by amominredhighheels on Polyvore.com

The thing I love most about spring is the newness and romance that fills the air.  Much like Christmastime, everyone seems to be smiling more (must be the Vitamin D from the sun!).  I also love how fashion changes from heavy fabrics and dark colors to those of lighter texture and color. Maybe we won’t recover from the economic gloom that looms over us with the change of season but we can recover from the winter blahs with new spring fashions!

(Keep reading for your chance to WIN…)

Spring fashion is typically floral, pastel or brights, with loose flowing fabric that hides the extra 5 pounds we carry after a long winter season.  This season, the trends in women’s clothing follow suit but with their own twist to make them very 2009:  there is a contrast of soft and hard, fitted and flowing.

  • Designers like Elizabeth and James bring us shimmering lingerie-inspired tees that are oversized and detailed with lace. Their designs also incorporate sleek modern styles using zippers and hardware that reflect the current trends.
  • Black Halo Dresses interject sophistication and femininity in their designs with details like boldly fitted silhouettes, accents of origami tucks and detailed waistlines.  While these styles are not loose, I know you’ve been working out to Fit Yummy Mummy all winter in anticipation of spring so the body-hugging styles are no problem for you!
  • Even jewelry designs are feminine and flirty!  Caesar’s Designs offer a sculpted naturalistic blossom on a ring that can’t be ignored!

Pick a key item or two to incorporate into your existing wardrobe and you will be one trendy mommy who knows her fashion and looks good wearing it! A $275 ring not in the budget?  I hear you, so let me help you out!  I may not be able to take out the whole “bad economy” gloom but I can put a smile on one reader’s face…

Chickdowntown will give one A Mom in Red High Heels reader a Caesar’s Designs Gold Vermeil Flower Ring like the one shown above!  (Exclusively at CHICKDOWNTOWN.COM)!  The winner will choose from sizes 6.5, 7, or 7.5.
